Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Infielders

Travis Bazzana, Cleveland Guardians - 38% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 12-15%)

For some reason, at a bad second base position, we head into the final week of the season with Travis Bazzana only rostered at 38% on Yahoo! Fantasy. That’s something YOU should be taking advantage of.

In September alone, Bazzana has hit six home runs and has driven in 15 runs in just 16 games, and both of those are month highs. He has a 1.164 OPS, .486 wOBA, and 220 wRC+ in September and there are zero signs of slowing down as his K-rate has gone away, his walks are up, and everything he touches is barreled. 

Josh Jung, Texas Rangers - 22% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 8-10%)

It’s only been seven – today makes eight – games since Josh Jung has returned from a calf strain that sidelined him for a while, but he’s picked up right where he left off as he’s hitting .345 with two homers, six runs scored, and four more driven in. Third is an awful spot and Jung is nearly 80% available on Yahoo! Fantasy.

Jung has a chance to finish hitting over .300 (he’s at .298) and approach a .370 OBP. He’s been an elite fantasy player and has a chance to be a top-10 third basemen this final week, possibly even higher.

Connor Norby, Colorado Rockies - 11% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 8-10%)

Connor Norby the Marlin and Connor Norby the Rockie are two different people. The Marlins infielder had a .638 OPS before being sent down and eventually traded while the Rockies infielder has an .882 OPS and has done a little of everything in 34 games.

Norby’s a former highly sought after prospect that has found a home in Colorado. He can play multiple infield spots and a .400 OBP is an elite number. He should be added right now ahead of a three game set in Coors Field before the Rockies hit the road for their final series of the year.

Rafael Flores, Pittsburgh Pirates - 8% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 6-8%)

The headliner for the Pirates in the David Bednar trade to the Yankees is none other than Rafael Flores and he’s really starting to pay dividends for the Pirates. Flores showed off big power in August and has followed that up with a .367 AVG in September. The key to his hot hitting has been cutting his strikeout rate way, way down. In August, despite blasting six home runs, he had a 37.5% K-rate. It’s down to just 21.2% in September. Flores has been known for his big power as he was given a 60-grade power tool as a prospect.

 

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Outfielders

Henry Bolte, Athletics - 43% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 12-13%)

Henry Bolte and the Athletics have six games next week and they’re all in Sutter Health Park, the number one rated offensive park in baseball. Since the All-Star break, Bolte has slashed .282/.370/.440 with a .360 wOBA and 124 wRC+. This season he’s hit .311 with an .827 OPS to boot, so he loves some home cooking. We’ve made it this far and haven’t mentioned the fact that he’s stolen seven bases in 17 games in September. That’s his specialty. 

Cole Carrigg, Colorado Rockies - 25% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 9-11%)

September has been Cole Carrigg’s best month as a pro and he still has one home series to go, which makes him very appealing down the stretch. In September, Carrigg has hit a season-high four home runs and has already driven in 12 runs in 17 games. He has SS and OF eligibility on all platforms too, which only adds to the attraction to adding him.

Jonah Cox, San Francisco Giants - 10% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 7-8%)

Like Liam Neeson, Jonah Cox has a specific kind of skill. He’s a speedy guy and has been running a LOT lately. After stealing four bags in August he’s up to five in September. He’s hit .293 since the All-Star break.

Since the break, he has a .340 OBP, .333 wOBA, and 111 wRC+ and has nine steals in just 31 games. Cox has been equally good against righties and lefties and has found himself atop of the Giants lineup a LOT down the stretch of the year. He could be a game changer for those looking for steals.

Walker Jenkins, Minnesota Twins - 9% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 6-7%)

Better late than never, but never late is better. That’s what Drake told me and that’s the code I live by..most of the time. Walker Jenkins, a very highly touted prospect, struggled upon being called up but is starting to get really comfortable at the dish and could help push you over the hump in some categories.

Jenkins, just over his last three games, has two-plus hits in each, belted two home runs, drove in three runs, and four runs scored. Jenkins is a 60-grade hit tool guy, 50-speed guy, and has 55 power grade. He can go on a big-time run to end the year.

 

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers

Jared Jones, Pittsburgh Pirates - 52% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 12-15%)

Just sifting through some schedule stuff for the final week and Jared Jones looks primed to make two more starts on Tuesday and then on the final day of the year. Jones has a 4.17 ERA but a 3.44 xERA, 3.57 xFIP, and 3.46 SIERA in his first season back from Tommy John surgery.

After a tough August, Jones has bounced back in a big way in September pitching to a 1.50 ERA with a .172 BAA, and 38.2% K-rate across 18 innings. I love Jones this week with two starts on his schedule against St. Louis and Detroit.

Zebby Matthews, Minnesota Twins - 34% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 8-9%)

As it currently stands, Zebby Matthews is scheduled to make one final start this upcoming Tuesday against the Giants in San Francisco, but I think he could also pitch on the final day of the year, but we’ll stay posted to Twins news this week. Either way, a start against San Francisco is appealing and Matthews has pitched well for a lot of the second half. He’s allowed one earned run or fewer in four of his six previous starts.

Grant Taylor, Chicago White Sox - 32% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 6-8%)

Look, if you need help in saves or for your ratios in the final week of the season, look no further than the White Sox firemen, Grant Taylor. Taylor has two saves in a row and has pitched for more than one inning in four straight appearances. He has a robust 103 strikeouts across 82 innings while maintaining a 2.3 ERA and 1.1 WHIP.

Cristian Javier, Houston Astros - 16% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy (FAAB - 2-4%)

If you want some risk in your life, look no further, but with risk there’s always potential reward. Right now, Cristian Javier is lined up for two starts this week and there aren’t many viable starters that could have that going for them this week, at least not many that are widely available.

Javier, in September, has a 2.20 ERA and has held opponents to a .161 BAA across 16.1 IP thus far. His 23.8% K-rate in September is the second-highest of any month this year and there have been a big improvement on walks since the first half of the year, too. A start in Seattle is great, but an outing in Sutter Health presents grave danger.
