Well we have finally hit that hot streak that we've been looking for since the first week of the season and it really couldn't have come at a better time. The DFS Playbook, Rankings & Optimal Lineups are uncovering ridiculously good plays day after day and showing you guys how to win both with and without Coors Field. Today we have another game at Coors where the Pirates went yard five times last night including three by Andrew McCutchen. Rest assured we will have some Coors Field exposure here tonight but there are actually quite a bit of real good statistical plays going into tonight.
Weather could be a big thorn in our side however tonight as three games have moderate to serious rain potential. The Phillies/Nationals have a 60% of rain later on which could cause a long delay or ever a shortening of the game. The Brewers/Cubs have over a 50% chance of rain throughout the game. The Cubs front office has shown that they are not afraid of cancelling a game early if they think that the delays will outweigh the game. The final game with weather concerns is in Minnesota where the Indians and Twins are almost certainly going to see rain at some point with heavy rain coming in later on. PLEASE monitor these and all MLB games throughout the day and DO NOT finalize your lineups without triple checking the weather.
Jake Arrieta is the obvious choice on the mound tonight coming off his second career no hitter and being the only legitimate ace on the board. I am nervous about him though for a number of reasons. First of all pitchers coming off of a no-hitter tend to not fare well in their next outing. Why this exactly is I have no idea but the stats back it up. Since 2012, pitchers coming off of a no-hitter have gone 4-6 with a 4.72 ERA while averaging just 6.1 innings in that first start post no hitter. Secondly, there is major weather concerns in Chicago where rain could shorten Arrieata's outing even if he does pitch well once again. Lastly, he is significantly higher priced than any other hurler on the board tonight. He is $2800 more than the next pitcher on FanDuel while on Draft Kings Arrieta is a whopping $3400 more than the next pitcher in salary.
I am really feeling the Red Sox tonight back home against Bud Norris and the Braves. David Ortiz, Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts make for a nice little stack away from Coors if you are interested in that. You should also look to Toronto where the Blue Jays are facing a left hander not named Chris Sale today. There were a lot of DFS people on the Blue Jays last night which usually means we will see an offensive explosion the very next day.
