Nationals vs. Braves Predictions: Saturday, May 23rd

Every once and a while, the numbers all line up and finding the stats isn't a long process. That's what I found today digging into this matchup of the Nationals and Braves for the second game of their NL East series.

Jake Irvin is going to be on the bump for Washington and he's been dreadful in the month of May. Over four starts, he's holding an ERA of 7.41 and has given up 24 hits in 17 innings pitched. Not exactly good form to be in playing the league's second best offense, at least in terms of runs per game at 5.4 runs. Due to this matchup, I love the Braves today, of course, and they should smack Irvin around with many hitters in the lineup excelling against right handed pitching. Over 4.5 runs is the team total for Atlanta today and that's a lock-in wager for me.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Predictions: Saturday, May 23rd

Another betting article and another full fade of the Rockies when Michael Lorenzen is on the hill. This guy has been a special kind of bad lately, as over three starts in May he has a 9.20 ERA, has allowed 27 hits over 14 innings pitched and opposing batters are hitting .391 against him! With those sort of numbers it hardly seems like a fair fight, but this is what the Rockies do.

With the fade explained let's now get to the props I like in this game. It will be the tandem of Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll for me tonight as the former is hitting .458 with a 1.333 OPS and the latter also crushing at .391/1.351. Both can hit lefty and will today and that's another split in their favor as Lorenzen is allowing a .408 average and 1.208 OPS against the left handed hitting this season. Marte and Carroll will also hit back to back so there's a good chance of stacking hits, runs and RBIs, so give me the over on both of their props in that department!
