MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/3

White Sox vs. Guardians Prediction: Saturday, October 3rd

What a glorious Saturday of baseball action we are about to have today! The Divisional Series kick off and this matchup in the AL Central is the first one on the docket. 

The White Sox swept the Astros in the Wild Card so they come in without rust and the Guardians hold home field advantage to start the series where they were 41-40 during the regular season. The Guardians are well known for their pitching and timely offense but today I don't see a route to a lot of runs for either team. 

Parker Messick will take the hill for Cleveland today and he had one hell of a breakout campaign. His ERA of 2.56 was the sixth best in MLB among qualified starters and his 193 strikeouts finished 15th in the league. In 25.2 innings pitched against the White Sox this season he had an ERA of 2.81 and had 29 strikeouts. Postseason props can be tricky on pitchers but a line of 6.5 is a fair one. With his K/9 of 9.32 and 25.8% Whiff rate during the regular season I think he can sit down enough batters to hit the over today. 

On top of that the White Sox offense had no power in the swings against the Astros with just a .100 isolated power mark and the Guardians are well known for low scoring games so give me the under this this Game 1 today.
