Phillies vs. Rockies Prediction: Sunday, April 5th

As with anything, take a small sample size with a grain of salt. So far in 2026, the Phillies are hitting the ball well and getting on base! Through the opening eight games, Philadelphia has an isolated power mark of .157 which is eighth best in the majors and they hold a team OBP of .319. That puts them in a good spot against just about anyone, but especially a pitcher like Tomoyuki Sugano who just whipped around last season.

Sugano allowed 33 total home runs last season placing him in the upper part of that stat category, but he also allowed an OBP of .320+ against righty and lefty hitters. This makes the Phillies offense appealing, but the Rockies could score some runs against Taijuan Walker as well. Walker was easily one of the worst arms in Philadelphis last year, allowing an ERA over 5.00 in the months of August and September last season. In his one start this season, he gave up 10 hits and seven runs to the Nationals. Not saying the Rockies have world beaters on offense, but they have some hitters that will plate runs this afternoon and for that reason I want to take the over on the game total.

In addition to the total, if its going to be high scoring, I need a player prop on the leadoff man Trea Turner for the Phillies. He’s really seeing the ball well in the early going, with a .351 OBP and him being on base will lead to runs scored on his behalf. The number is 2.5 on the hits/runs/RBIs prop which is tough, but at Coors Field, everything is juiced and that’s just the way it goes!

Mariners vs. Angels Prediction: Sunday, April 5th

The Mariners have been slow out of the gate, but another date with the Angels today, that should get them back on course! I feel this way due to several factors, but the starting pitching for Seattle gives them a leg up almost every single game.

Luis Castillo will take the bump today and he is looking to build off his great first start of the season in which he allowed just three hits, no runs and he also collected seven strikeouts against a tough Yankees offense. The Angels shouldn’t put up nearly as much resistance either as they hold the fourth-highest strikeout rate in MLB at 29.9% and their team BABIP is just .247! Those numbers mean we should get at least six innings from Castillo today and if that happens, the strikeout prop of 6.5 should tick to the over and you can get that at plus money!

In addition to the prop, I am going to eat the chalk of the Mariners Money Line today as Ryan Johnson is starting for the Angels, and his ERA lives north of double digits over the course of his career. It’s been a split series to this point, but Seattle is going to take the rubber match today by thawing out their offense and snapping out of their early season slump.
