Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Friday, May 29:

Favorite Bets:

Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks (+246)

Fantastic match-up for the lefty-swinging Carroll who owns a .353 wOBA with a 15-percent walk-rate against righthanded pitching. George Kirby sits on the mound for the Mariners tonight and he’s allowed seven stolen bases on the season and might be delivering to the plate a little slow, given Carroll’s sprint-speed numbers. With Cal Raleigh on the IL, we’re looking at Mitch Garver behind the plate still and that’s another advantage. He’s got a slow pop-time and just an 18-percent caught-stealing rate on 17 attempts against him. You can also look at Geraldo Perdomo (+373) if you want higher odds. I prefer Carroll over him due to the leadoff spot and his higher success-rate on the bases, but if you’re sprinkling a little something around, it should be worth your attention.

Longshot:

Zach Neto, Los Angeles Angels (+459)

While Nick Martinez has only allowed two stolen bases on the year, this play is more about the Angels needing to be more aggressive on the basepaths and doing a good job testing the arms of catchers Nick Fortes and Hunter Feduccia who combine for just a 21.2-percent caught-stealing rate. Neto doesn’t have the greatest success rate and has been caught stealing twice over the last four games, but the important fact is that he is running when he’s on-base. With a .338 wOAB against righties and a .535 wOBA over the past six games, we’ll take a shot on him here.
