Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Thursday, August 20:

Favorite Bets:

David Hamilton, Milwaukee Brewers (+287) – We had Hamilton a couple of days ago when he stole two bases during that 22-0 blowout win for the Brewers, so we have no problem going back to the well once again. George Kirby has allowed 19 stolen bases this season, most of any pitcher on today’s slate. Hamilton owns a .326 wOBA against righties and also has an impressive 10.3-percent walk rate. Once he gets on base, we expect him to be aggressive, especially since Cal Raleigh has just a 16-percent caught-stealing rate.

Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Guardians (+288) – While Ramirez has had his issues with righties this season, his OBP is sitting at .311 thanks to a monster 13.2-percent walk rate. Giants righty Landen Roupp has had his struggles and allowed left-handed hitters to post a .302 wOBA against him. Ramirez has six hits over his last four games and one caught-stealing, so you know he’s still running. Giants' catchers have just a 23.4-percent caught-stealing rate, so look for Ramirez to test them once he’s on-base.
