Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. We’ve got an interesting group of notable base-stealers at shorter odds, so here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Monday, August 17:
Favorite Bets:
Jake McCarthy, Colorado Rockies (+277) – Dodgers lefty Blake Snell has allowed four stolen bases over just nine innings this season, so we’re going to take that, plus expose the Dodgers’ catchers' combined 20.4 caught-stealing rate and land on McCarthy for a stolen base tonight. Over his career, he’s been fine against left-handed hitters, but McCarthy is posting an impressive .387 wOBA against southpaws this season, so we’ll bank on his strengths right now and expect some aggressiveness.
Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals (+284) – He’s hit safely in four of his last five and remains dialed in at the plate. He’ll square off against right-hander Mason Barnett and put his .342 wOBA on display. We haven’t seen him steal a base since August 10, but considering he’s facing catcher Jonah Heim, who has an atrocious 13-percent caught-stealing rate, we’ll bank on the perennial MVP candidate to get the job done for us.
