Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Without further ado, here are our top MLB stolen base picks today for Saturday, August 15:
Favorite Bet:
Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals (+291)
Bobby Witt has a .387 OBP over his last seven games, and by facing Reid Detmers tonight, he finds himself on the better side of his L/R splits. For the year, he has a .383 OBP and .376 wOBA against southpaws, and he’s 14-for-15 on stolen base attempts against left-handed pitchers. As a team, the Angels are in the bottom 10 in Major League Baseball in caught stealing rate (18%), and I’d expect Witt’s 99th-percentile sprint speed will be on display this evening.
Favorite Longshot:
Jackson Merrill, San Diego Padres (+516)
Want a Saturday longshot? Merrill is your guy! He’s a perfect 10-for-10 on the year in stolen base attempts against southpaws, and Joey Cantillo isn’t great in terms of the run game. Furthermore, he’s allowed a 1.93 WHIP over his last five starts, and Merrill has a .333 OBP and .335 wOBA against southpaws in 2026. Since the All-Star break, Merrill has a .425 wOBA, and specifically against southpaws since the break, he has a .424 AVG and .411 wOBA. Let’s hope we see Austin Hedges behind the dish, as he’s well below-average in terms of catching would-be base stealers.
