What would you do if you won a million dollars? Buy a house? A car? Send your kids to college? Pay off all your debt? Everyone has had that dream at some point or another and while some might say money won’t solve all your problems, having a surplus would certainly make life easier. That dream became a reality for one of us this past weekend and the story of how it happened and who it happened to is amazing.

Meet Mike. Or, as we now like to refer to him, ‘Millionaire’ Mike.

Mike is just a regular guy, like you and me. He and his wife live a quiet life, he’s got two grown boys just out of college getting started on their own, and he puts in a ton of hours at work, including on the weekends when it is necessary. He’s a big football fan, loves playing season-long fantasy football with his boys and has learned to enjoy playing DFS over the years.

Like most casual DFS players, Mike won some and he lost some. He joined the Fantasy Alarm #FAmily to learn how to be a better player and, with the help of our content and tools, found himself having more and more success. Like anything else he did in life, he put in the work needed to improve. He read everything that was on the web site, studied all the data, explored the tools and learned more and more about strategy, contest selection and lineup construction.

Gradually, Mike became a more successful player. As he was grinding through cash games and building his bankroll, Mike had a fantastic moment. Not a million-dollar moment, but for this regular joe, it may as well have been. Using the NBA DFS Playbook and all of the offerings at Fantasy Alarm, Mike randomly entered a free contest on FanDuel where the grand prize was a trip to the NBA All Star Game. He sifted through the daily projections, studied the Draft Percentage Forecaster, read through the Playbook and Value Vault and built the winning lineup. It was memory that would last him and his family a lifetime.

Fantasy Alarm became part of that lifetime as well as Mike, upon his return home, took advantage of a memorable offer to become a Lifetime Member of the Fantasy Alarm #FAmily, a wild deal only being offered for a limited time. Mike jumped onboard and has been a loyal card-carrying member of #FANation since.

Great story, right? Well, obviously, it gets even better.

Mike’s Sunday routine consists of waking up, having breakfast with his wife and spending a few hours reading Fantasy Alarm before setting his NFL DFS lineups and heading off to work. Yes, like many of us in this day and age, working on Sundays is a reality. Mike studies the Playbook, studies our NFL tools, looks at the Example Lineups and talks to his sons about players they like for the day. Week 3 did not seem to be any different as he chose his contests and set his lineups, though one lineup in particular did catch his eye.

The Playbook and Example Lineups were touting a Los Angeles Chargers stack, using Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams. It was a little pricey, but when Dalvin Cook was ruled out and the value of a highly-recommended Alexander Mattison presented itself, all the pieces started to fall into place. Using the pay-down at running back, Mike was able to lock in Travis Kelce at tight end and still have money left over for quality receivers. His studying of the Draft Percentage Forecaster helped lead him to the decision of using Cooper Kupp and Justin Jefferson – most people were touting a cheaper Robert Woods breakout and citing Adam Thielen’s touchdown prowess. With everyone leaning towards a value play in Tyler Boyd, Mike went to touchdown-friendly Ja’Marr Chase and then finally, with many either paying up for the Denver defense or down for the Raiders, Mike stayed in the middle when he heard us on the Gameday Livestream discussing how Arizona leads the league in takeaways.

There were no crazy, outlandish bargains in his lineup. No deep, random dives. The lineup looked strong across the board and, like his other five lineups he built that morning, he dropped it into the FanDuel Sunday Million. The rest, as you see below and as you can hear in the interview above, is history.

But please don’t misunderstand the story here. Obviously, we are incredibly happy for Mike and proud of what he was able to do for himself and his family. The money is life-changing and if you are reading this, you probably have dollar signs in your eyes and big dreams of what you would do with the money. But please keep in mind that this is not some overnight process and this isn’t some get-rich-quick scheme. Mike has used his Fantasy Alarm membership to learn how to be a better player and this miraculous victory is the fruit of his labor. He put in the necessary work to be a better player. He reads everything we publish. He studies all the data and he uses many of the tools we have to offer. It is a process, not a whim.

We aren’t sitting here saying that if you join the #FAmily, you will win a million dollars. What we are saying, is that if you do choose to subscribe, we are going to do everything in our power to make you a better, stronger player. From there, the benefits will follow. It’s like I always say in the Weekly Watch List – you can give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
