Rafael Betancourt announced his retirement.
After 12 years of professional baseball, the 40 year old right-handed reliever is going to hang up his spikes and walk away from the game. Used predominately as a set-up man, Betancourt did enjoy a 31-save season as the Rockies closer back in 2012, but he never really stuck with the job as he consistently pitched to a lot of contact over time, something you really don't want your closer to do. He leaves MLB with a career 3.36 ERA over 652 2/3 innings. Farewell, good sir. It's been fun. Feb 26 11:44 am (EST)
