Ilya Sorokin made 20 saves for the shutout in Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.
Sorokin wasn’t tested often in the game, having only faced 20 shots but he was an impenetrable wall nonetheless. His best save of the night came in the third period when Victor Olofsson found a loose puck in the slot but the Islanders netminder flashed his glove to make the stop. The 25-year-old rookie hasn’t looked spectacular this season so the shutout performance should serve as a big confidence booster. Sorokin has a 1-2-1 record with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage. Feb 16 10:21 pm (EST)
