2026 Fantasy Football Player Profile

2025 Season Recap

James Cook led the NFL in rushing in 2025 and nobody really saw it coming at that level. He averaged 19.2 carries per game, the highest mark of his career by a significant margin, and finished as the RB6 in PPR fantasy with 302.2 total points. His receiving game left a lot to be desired at just 33 catches, 291 yards, and two scores, but 14 total touchdowns more than compensated. The Bills committed to the ground game and Cook delivered every single week.

2026 Fantasy Outlook

This ADP feels right. Cook sits as the consensus RB6 entering his fifth NFL season, and he proved he can handle a workhorse role and produce at an elite level when given the volume. Buffalo's new coaching staff appears committed to the run game identity that worked so well last year. The one thing we want to see more of is his involvement in the passing game, because right now his PPR ceiling is being limited by the target share. If he gets 50-plus targets in 2026, the upside here jumps significantly. Even without it, he is a first-round lock as one of the more proven volume rushers in the league.
