Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to opt out of the final year of his current contract according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Much-maligned within the Lakers fan base early in his time in Los Angeles, Caldwell-Pope was a key contributor during the team's post-restart run to the NBA title. Due to make $8.5 million next season, KCP is expected to instead hit the open market. And while there is reportedly interest between he and the Lakers (who hold KCP's Bird rights) to continue their partnership, Caldwell-Pope won't lack for options on the open market either. Charania mentioned Atlanta, which is in need of productive veterans to help out that young roster, as a team that may be interested in the Georgia native. Oct 15 11:18 am (EST)
