J. Panik - 2B
Panik (groin) took some swings Friday and he could begin a rehab assignment within the next week, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Panik landed on the disabled list July 7 with a left groin strain, but he's nearing a return to action. If he responds well to batting practice and other baseball activities, he'll likely begin a minor-league stint early next week, with a potential return coming in early August.

S. Ohtani - DH
Ohtani managed to play catch from 60 feet Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
After being cleared to begin a throwing program Thursday, Ohtani successfully threw for the first time since suffering a right elbow injury. Manager Mike Scioscia stated Ohtani will likely throw every other day moving forward, and he expects Ohtani to take the hill before the seasons end barring any setbacks, per Ardaya.

R. Braun - LF
Braun (back) will likely be reinstated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Saturday's matchup against the Dodgers, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Braun tested his back Thursday during a workout, and it appears he's good to go, as Manager Craig Counsell stated he expects Braun to come off the disabled list Saturday, per Rosiak. Braun figures to regain his role as the everyday starter in left field, especially with Eric Thames (hamstring) on the DL.

W. Davis - SP
Davis (hip) will take his rehabilitation assignment to Double-A Pensacola on Friday, Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reports.
Davis was placed on the 60-day disabled list after requiring hip surgery in mid-October of 2017. He'll head to the next level after making two starts at High-A Daytona.

I. Kennedy - SP
Kennedy (oblique) said Friday that "it could be quite awhile" before he returns to the mound for the Royals, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
Flanagan interpreted Kennedy's statements to mean that he is weeks away from being activated, which would likely sideline the right-hander until the middle of August. Kennedy didn't imply that there was any sort of setback, just that the strained oblique will take longer to heal than previously anticipated. Look for a definitive timetable to arise once he's able to resume baseball activities in the near future.

J. Samardzija - SP
Samardzija (shoulder) won't require surgery, and he's slated for a bullpen over the weekend, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Samardzina underwent an MRI on Sunday, but he doesn't appear to have a serious injury. He's been on the disabled list since Sunday due to shoulder inflammation, and the 33-year-old right-hander described his injury as a combination of pain and stiffness. Despite this, the Giants are optimistic he'll return in time to take the hill Wednesday against the Mariners. More news on his status should emerge as Wednesday approaches.

M. Zunino - C
Zunino (ankle) will likely need a couple more days before returning from the 10-day disabled list, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Zunino will embark on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma Friday, as he's slated to catch around six innings Friday and he'll likely serve as the designated hitter Saturday. The catcher went down with an ankle injury against the Angels on July 4 and was expected to miss around 2-to-3 weeks, so he's currently right in the middle of that timetable. Expect to see him back with Seattle next week for a two-game set with the Giants beginning Tuesday.

A. Senzatela - SP
Senzatela (finger) is a candidate to get the nod Sunday against the Diamondbacks, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Senzatela was placed on the 10-day disabled list July 13 due to a blister on his throwing hand, although he managed to toss a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday without issue. Either Jon Gray or Senzatela will take the hill for Sunday's series finale. The 23-year-old has made two starts for the Rockies this season, giving up six runs across six innings in his last outing against the Mariners.
