2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Despite a 31.9 percent strikeout rate last year, Outman slashed .248/.353/.437 with 23 home runs, 86 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases across 151 games. Strikeouts have always been a part of his offensive profile, but so has a double-digit walk rate, and his 28.1 percent O-Swing rate last year is very respectable. If he could eat into his 15.3 percent swinging strike rate from last season, there's reasonable belief that Outman could get his strikeout rate below 30 percent in 2024, especially when you consider that he struck out under 30 percent of the time over his final 68 games. From a batting average standpoint, he handled lefties and righties fine, but despite a .254 average against southpaws, he posted a measly .665 OPS and .054 ISO. 

2024 Outlook: Is there some platoon risk with Outman in 2024? I think there is, but he has an above average glove, and there are other spots in the lineup where a platoon is desperately needed. For a potential budding fantasy star with 25/20 upside, Outman is very affordable in drafts, likely due to rumors of him platooning in the Los Angeles outfield. However, I think he can avoid the platoon, and join the 20/20 club in 2024, with the possibility of going 25/20 or 25/25 still on the table.
