Carlos Rodon took a loss in relief in his return from the injured list, giving up a run and two hits in the seventh against the Indians.

Jimmy Cordero started the seventh with the White Sox up 4-1 and gave up three straight singles (one on a botched play defensively) before rebounding to retire two in a row. Manager Rick Renteria then made the curious move to summon Rodon with the bases loaded in his first appearance in over seven weeks and his first major league relief outing since 2015. Rodon gave up a two-run single and then a two-run double to put the Indians on top 5-4 before retiring Carlos Santana to end the inning. Maybe the White Sox figured it was more important to test Rodon in a crucial situation in advance of the postseason than it was to win the game tonight. Either way, he definitely flunked. He'll get another chance this weekend before the White Sox have to decide on his status for next week. Sep 24 9:21 pm (EST)
