Sandhagen vs Figueiredo Best Bets: UFC Fight Night Picks & Odds

UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Figueiredo is set to take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. This bantamweight showdown features Cory Sandhagen, the No. 4 ranked bantamweight, against Deiveson Figueiredo, a former two-time UFC Flyweight Champion making his bantamweight debut
Both fighters are coming off significant bouts, with Sandhagen looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov, while Figueiredo enters this fight with a 24–4–1 record, having recently faced Petr Yan in a closely contested bout.
UFC Fight Night Predictions & Picks: Saturday, May 3rd
Main Event: Cory Sandhagen vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
Cory Sandhagen is known for his dynamic striking and relentless pace. His ability to maintain distance and control the tempo of the fight could be crucial against Figueiredo. Figueiredo, on the other hand, brings knockout power and a wealth of experience to the octagon. However, his move up to bantamweight and recent performances suggest that Sandhagen's style may pose significant challenges.
Co-Main Event: Reinier de Ridder vs. Bo Nickal
Both fighters are grappling specialists, making this a compelling matchup. Nickal's wrestling pedigree and de Ridder's submission skills will likely dictate the pace and outcome of this fight. Expect a closely contested bout with potential for a finish in the later rounds.
UFC Fight Night Best Bets:
- Thomas Petersen by Decision +110: Petersen is a good wrestler but he doesn’t have the finishing ability that you see from most heavyweights. This seems like the kind of fight where he clearly dominates the wrestling, but his opponent Don’Tale Mayes is too tough for him to get out of there.
- Santiago Ponzinibhio ML -120: Santiago is an aging veteran but he is taking on Daniel Rodriguez who is aging as well so that shouldn’t be much of a factor. Ponz seems to still have the fire to compete at a high level while D-Rod almost looks to be coasting and just coming to collect a paycheck. Ponz can mix in his wrestling as well so I expect him to do that if necessary which gives him a few more outs if he needs them.
- Cory Sandhagen by KO +450: Sandhagen is more likely to win a decision in this matchup, but this price seems way off. He is the much bigger fighter than Figueiredo and his cardio is better as well. Early on this fight could be close but the longer it goes the more I think Cory has a real chance to end it. Figueiredo’s power and experience make it so that this happens later on so if you really want to juice up the odds Sandhagen to win in Round 3/4/5 could be even juicier.
