UFC 327: Procházka vs. Ulberg — Main Card Picks

Jiří Procházka vs. Carlos Ulberg (Main Event)

This main event is a massive clash of styles as the action-packed Jiri Prochazka uses his unorthodox style against a smooth striker in Carlos Ulberg. I actually have bets on both of these men to end the year as champion at +550 and +700, so I’ve been touting them for a while. At the end of the day, I think one of these men is going to get KO’d, especially with the amount of chances Jiri takes in a fight. Since this is basically a pick’em fight, I am leaning towards turning one of them into an underdog play by taking them to win by KO, and this week I’m leaning towards Jiri.

  • Best Bet: Procházka by KO/TKO (+150)

Tatiana Suarez vs Loopy Godinez

Suarez, in her prime, was the best wrestler/BJJ-style fighter I’ve seen in women’s MMA.  Her past is behind her, but for five minutes, she still has the power and pressure that made her a title contender.  I don’t want to be holding a Suarez ticket if this gets passed the first 5 minutes, so for that reason, I’m taking a true long shot and taking Suarez to get the Round 1 Submission.  

  • Best Bet: Suarez by R1 Submission (+1100) 

 

 

 

Parlay of the Week

I’m ending with a parlay, which I normally don’t do, but think both of these legs are really strong this week.

Leg 1: The Main Event to End Inside the Distance (-350)

Both of these men are finishers, and I expect that trend to continue.  If Jiri doesn’t win by KO as I predicted earlier, he probably lunges in and gets clipped by something and gets himself finished.

Leg 2: Kelvin Gastelum ML (-250)

He is going to have the quicker hands by a mile and much better durability.  He should be able to make Luque have to work to get inside and land, and unless KG is giving up a ton of takedowns, he should be able to dominate.

  • Best Bet: Parlay Main Event Ends Inside the Distance + Gastelum ML (-130)
