EPL DFS Playbook February 4: Top DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Picks
I was surprised to find that even with so many games on the slate, there aren’t many large favorites. In these kinds of slates, I find it is often smart to chase a win and a clean sheet from one of the mid-priced goalkeepers. The other odd part of the slate is the number of strong value forwards. You could very easily save money on forwards and pay up for midfielders, though most slates tend to be the opposite.
EPL DFS Top Plays February 4
| Goalkeepers | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Alisson | LIV | WOL | 5300 | 8.69 | 12 | 12.55 |
| I really thought he would be more expensive. I know Liverpool has been inconsistent on the road, but Wolves have scored the fewest goals in the league and only four teams have allowed fewer goals than Liverpool. Wolverhampton has been shut out of half of its games and this is a good price to chase a win and a clean sheet. | ||||||
| David Raya | BRE | SOU | 5500 | 9.83 | 11 | 15.35 |
| I was going back-and-forth between Raya and Alisson but I think I will just play the cheaper one on each site. Both teams are -115 to win, and while Brentford has allowed three more goals this season, they have kept two more clean sheets. Wolverhampton is probably a better matchup than Southampton, but Brentford gets to play at home. I think if I had an extra $200 to spend I would go with Raya just because of how bad Liverpool has looked this year, but it is close. | ||||||
| Neto | BOU | BHA | 3600 | 5.62 | 7 | 9.35 |
| Only three teams have allowed more saves than Brighton, who lost its leading scorer (Leandro Trossard) in the January transfer window and will be without its third-leading scorer (Alexis Mac Allister) due to yellow card accumulation. I'll like Neto even better if Evan Ferguson is out as well. | ||||||
| Lukasz Fabianski | WHU | NEW | 8 | 9.73 | ||
| I am actually not as skeptical of Newcastle's offense as many who cover the Premier League, but I certainly don't mind betting against an offense lead by Miguel Almiron's career-high nine goals. More importantly, only four teams have allowed fewer goals than West Ham. | ||||||
| Forwards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Evan Ferguson | BHA | BOU | 8300 | 11.74 | 17 | 18.86 |
| He has attacking returns in each of his last four games despite coming off the bench in two of those. He may not play due to a leg injury but if he starts he is as good a bet to score as anyone. | ||||||
| Wout Weghorst | MUN | CRY | 4500 | 3.28 | 16 | 8.00 |
| I'm not convinced Weghorst is actually good, but there is a good chance he will be the starting number nine for a good team with a solid matchup. At his price, he will enable you to pay up for midfielders. | ||||||
| Dango Ouattara | BOU | BHA | 5700 | 18.9 | 15 | 22.80 |
| In his Premier League debut, Ouattara had five shots, five crosses and one assist against Nottingham Forest. This matchup isn't quite as favorable but even if he just hits five crosses again he will be a great play on DraftKings. | ||||||
| Odsonne Edouard | CRY | MUN | 4900 | 5.53 | 11 | 10.94 |
| Edouard is averaging 7.5 DK fantasy points in his 11 starts. He is a GPP play on both sites but his game is probably better-suited for FanDuel scoring. | ||||||
| Ollie Watkins | AVL | LEI | 7400 | 8.73 | 16 | 14.32 |
| Watkins has attacking returns in four of his last five starts, and only Bournemouth has allowed more goals than Leicester this season. I don't know why Watkins is so cheap, especially on FanDuel. | ||||||
| Midfielders | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Bruno Fernandes | MUN | CRY | 8300 | 13.34 | 21 | 21.68 |
| Fernandes has an attacking return in five straight games, and that alone makes him playable on both sites. Fernandes should get more free kicks with Christian Eriksen out, which raises Fernandes's floor. Fernandes will be in all of my lineups if Luke Shaw sits but he might make most of my lineups anyway. | ||||||
| Pascal Gross | BHA | BOU | 9200 | 14.06 | 19 | 18.12 |
| You can pivot to Solly March on DraftKings if you need to save some money but Gross is safer on both sites. Bournemouth is allowing the most goals in the league and with all of Brighton's turnover, Gross could be best-positioned to take advantage. | ||||||
| James Maddison | LEI | AVL | 9300 | 18.34 | 18 | 24.22 |
| Prior to suffering an injury after 20 minutes against Brighton, Maddison had scored at least 13.6 FD fantasy points in eight consecutive games, averaging 30.3 fantasy points in that span. He is as safe as anyone on either site. | ||||||
| Michael Olise | CRY | MUN | 7100 | 11.04 | 12 | 12.12 |
| Olise had eight crosses, four chances created and one goal against Manchester United two weeks ago, and he followed that up with four crosses in 25 minutes against Newcastle. The matchup is the only thing keeping his price down and I am not that scared of the matchup. | ||||||
| Leon Bailey | AVL | LEI | 7200 | 8.52 | 14 | 10.42 |
| Bailey is safer than Ollie Watkins on DraftKings and he is a reasonable pivot if you can't afford Watkins on FanDuel. Bailey has at least 9.2 DK fantasy points in three straight starts. | ||||||
| Defenders | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Tariq Lamptey | BHA | BOU | 5600 | 2.43 | 7 | 1.94 |
| I really thought he would be cheaper on DraftKings but I'm probably paying for him anyway. Lamptey had 8.9 DK fantasy points in his only start of the season against Arsenal. No team is allowing more fantasy points to defenders than Bournemouth. | ||||||
| Tyrell Malacia | MUN | CRY | 3900 | 3.84 | 9 | 9.81 |
| He has six crosses in his last three games, averaging 7.2 DK fantasy points in those games. Only four teams have allowed crosses than Crystal Palace this season and we only need a few for Malacia to be a value. | ||||||
| Trent Alexander-Arnold | LIV | WOL | 5900 | 10.61 | 13 | 11.73 |
| This is the cheapest he has been all season, and he is still averaging more DK fantasy points than any defender in the slate. Only five teams have allowed more crosses than Wolves this season. | ||||||
| Maximilian Kilman | WOL | LIV | 2700 | 2.87 | 10 | 10.93 |
| Nathan Collins may be safer but Kilman scored 20+ fantasy points in two of his three games in January, with 23 clearances, five blocks and nine tackles in that span. Liverpool is first in clearances allowed, second in blocks allowed and fourth in tackles + interceptions allowed. | ||||||
| Ethan Pinnock | BRE | SOU | 3300 | 4.09 | 14 | 20.26 |
| Pinnock has at least 20 FD fantasy points in six straight games, with at least nine clearances in each. Only Liverpool and Manchester City have allowed more clearances than Southampton this season. It might be more sexy to chase a defender who will provide attacking returns but Pinnock offers a high floor along with a high ceiling. | ||||||
