For the second consecutive week, we have a slate of games that all look to be pretty close on paper. Only two teams in the top half of the table are in action, and both Brighton and Newcastle are on the road. The bottom seven teams in the table are all within two points of each other, and five of those teams face off. As you might expect, there aren’t many great spend-up options at goalkeeper or defense. The top-priced players on the slate aren’t exactly flashy but they are pretty safe, and I will gladly pay up for them while saving money elsewhere.

EPL DFS Top Plays January 21

Goalkeepers

NetoBOUNFO48005.55109.33
There aren't any obvious goal keeper plays, as the only top-10 teams in play both have rough matchups on the road. Bournemouth isn't what you would call good, but Nottingham Forest has scored just two goals in nine road games. You might not get a win even if you get a clean sheet but we are getting a good price to bet against Nottingham Forest on the road.
Jordan PickfordEVEWHU41006.92810.67
I still don't trust Everton, but only six teams have allowed fewer goals. Only Wolves have scored fewer goals than West Ham. West Ham is more dangerous with Danny Ings in the mix but this is still a good situation for the cheapest keeper in the slate.
Nick PopeNEWCRY  1315.92
I don't have a great feeling about this but Newcastle has allowed the fewest goals this season and only five teams have scored fewer goals than Crystal Palace. If you want to pay up for a keeper, do it on FanDuel.

Evan FergusonBHALEI720011.661818.58
We missed our chance to play him cheap but this price seems more than reasonable for somebody with two goals and two assists in 174 minutes. Only four teams have allowed more goals than Leicester City this season.
Kieffer MooreBOUNFO50005.26127.76
Nottingham Forest has allowed the third-most goals in the league and second-most on the road. Moore is tied with Philip Billing for the team lead with four goals but Moore is cheaper than Billing on both sites.
Jaidon AnthonyBOUNFO75005.6129.12
Anthony has started three straight games and sent in 18 crosses in that span. If Bournemouth finally scores a goal, there is a good chance Anthony will be involved. His role on corners gives him a high floor on DraftKings.
Leon BaileyAVLSOU70008.471310.48
Bailey has been great since the break, with 14 crosses, 10 shots, three chances created and one goal in four games. He is a tournament play on FanDuel but he looks like a great play on DraftKings.
Danny IngsWHUEVE83006.51611.98
We are getting a pretty good chance at a goal at a pretty good price, especially on FanDuel. I think Ings will hit the ground running with his new team, but this play has some risk.

Callum WilsonNEWCRY  2016.57
Wilson is the best attacker on the best team in the slate, and he has been extremely productive when healthy. I might pivot to Alexander Isak if he starts but Wilson looks like the safest way into the Newcastle attack.
Midfielders

Marc AlbrightonLEIBHA57005.08105.34
Albrighton is awfully cheap for somebody with 24 crosses and five chances created in his last two games. He wasn't playing 90 minutes anyway so the return of James Maddison isn't much of a concern, so long as Albrighton starts.
Dennis PraetLEIBHA41001.881.73
Praet sent in four crosses in 22 minutes against Nottingham Forest and he has a chance at a rare start if James Maddison is not 100 percent. Praet is a nice punt play on DraftKings if he starts.
Pascal GrossBHALEI910014.361918.58
He is no longer underpriced on FanDuel but Gross is still probably the safest player on either site. He has 23 crosses, 11 chances created, a goal and an assist in his last three games.
James Ward-ProwseSOUAVL1030014.771718.74
We are getting arguably the hottest player in the league who also has a huge floor and is reasonably priced. Ward-Prowse has scored all four of Southampton's goals since the break, with 31 crosses and nine chances created in four games. Forward is the not wasteland it often is on DraftKings, which makes Ward-Prowse that much easier to afford.
Defenders
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Alex MorenoAVLSOU50007.56913.20
He was impressive in his Premier League debut against Leeds and with a week to prepare and a great matchup against Southampton, Moreno could be even better in his first start. Moreno looks like a very nice play on both sites, though he is a bit risky.
James TarkowskiEVEWHU29004.021416.63
Only three teams have allowed more clearances than Everton and Tarkowski has 22 clearances in his last three games. You are getting a nice floor (on FanDuel) and Tarkowski is probably due to head in a goal from a set piece as well.
Ashley YoungAVLSOU41005.521011.39
I was going to just mention him as a pivot if you can't afford Alex Moreno, but considering the price, matchup and the lask of fun defenders on the slate, Young deserves his own spot on this list. I would like him better at left back but he should send in a handful of crosses from the right side as well.
Adam SmithBOUNFO38004.2399.30
Nottingham Forest has allowed the second-most crosses this season and Adam Smith has eight crosses in this last two games. He is risky but I like the idea of saving money at defender in this slate.
