The 2021-2022 PGA Tour regular season is over and we will begin the FedEx Cup Playoffs this weekend as you build those daily fantasy golf lineups. You can build PGA DFS lineups for the FedEx St. Jude Championship on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy. The tournament seems to be overshadowed once again by more drama surrounding the LIV Tour as more players make the jump. We should be discussing how great this last season was for DFS golf and how it is only going to get better in 2022-2023, but here we are. The PGA Tour’s future is definitely in question as more big names take the money and run to the LIV. I won’t waste anymore time on that topic until we know more, but it is incredibly frustrating as a fan of the game. Let's take a closer look at the golf course for the St. Jude Championship this week and then dive into the PGA DFS top picks for your daily fantasy golf lineups.

The Wyndham Championship last weekend saw Joohyung Kim pick up his first career PGA Tour victory and catapult him into the Top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings.  We’ve got number one ranked Scottie Scheffler and his four wins including the Masters all the way to number 125 Rickie Fowler and his one Top 10 in 21 events this season all competing for the $15 million dollar top prize at the end of the Tour Championship.

The FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind plays host to the first of three events in the playoffs.  The Top 70 players at the end of this weekend will participate in next week’s BMW Championship at the Wilmington Country Club and then the Top 30 players at the end of that tournament will play in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.  This tournament takes over for the Northern Trust as the first event but it is not unknown to these PGA Tour professionals.  The St. Jude Classic was a regular stop from 1958 to 2018 and TPC Southwind had been the host course since 1989.

TPC Southwind is a beautiful par 70 that measures out 7,239 yards and is considered a true test of a golfer.  It challenges all parts of a player’s game.  If you look at the history of winners on this course, there isn’t any particular type of player that has had the majority of success on this track.  Even the most accurate players have had problems keeping it on the fairway here.  The course features water hazards on ten different holes, a lot of balls have landed in the drink over the last 15+ years since the course was remodeled.  TPC Southwind’s greens are very small and difficult to hit, so once again I’ll rank strokes: gained: approach really high and scrambling because these players will have to get the ball up and down often.  Greens in regulation should be in your rotation of stats as well on this course.  This is a ball strikers course but we’ve got a lot of those guys playing this weekend, so the tiebreaker has to come down to putting.  If I’m picking between two guys, putting will be the determining factor for me.

The primary concern for the golfers this weekend will be the humidity.  Memphis temperatures will be in the upper 80s but humidity levels could get as high as 90 percent.  There doesn’t seem to be any rain in the forecast which makes everything better. Now let's dive into the PGA DFS top plays for this week.

ONE & DONE PICK: Viktor Hovland
