Captain
The obvious choice for the captain spot tonight is Max Pacioretty. With Vegas at home and having the last change, you can look for them to try and take advantage of the last change. We have also seen a significant uptick in the play from Jonathan Marchessault, but I would note that those were road games where Vegas’ second line will see better matchups, that said, Marchessault is a volume shooter, and if he can do that tonight he could be productive. For Tampa, I would look at Victor Hedman in the captain spot. He has the highest ceiling of any player in this game, and a solid floor as well. You can also consider Steven Stamkos, who has had a great year so far as well and has 9 shots and two points in his last two games.
Flex/Util
Mark Stone - Stone doesn’t shoot enough to have consistent value, but when Vegas’ top line is going Stone puts up points.
Chandler Stephenson - Much like Stone, Stephenson will put up numbers when the top line is going, but he does have the potential to give you a zero as well if that line struggles.
Evgeni Dadonov - Dadonov continues to get time on Vegas’ top powerplay which continues to make him a useful value play.
Shea Theodore - With 3 goals in his last three games, we get the reminder that Theodore can be one of the best offensive defensemen in hockey. It won’t be as expensive as Pietrangelo but when he is going he can be just as productive.
Robin Lehner - Lehner has won four straight games, and while he hasn’t played great in all of those games he is certainly capable of getting the win at home, and putting up good numbers.
Alex Killorn - Tampa’s forward depth is thin right now with all of their injuries, but Killorn has been good on the power play and can give you some goals.
Taylor Raddish - Radish is the type of value player you want to take a chance on in these games. He is playing on Tampa’s top powerplay, and he has two points in his last two games.
Ryan McDonough - McDonough is a bit of a wild card. We have seen him have games where he gives you points, or shots or blocks. He also has the risk of giving you a zero, but in a showdown, if you’re looking to get some cheap points he is capable of giving you that.
Andrei Vasilevskiy - Vasilevskiy can make or break this slate. If he is at his best he is difficult to score on, and Vegas will shoot enough to ensure that he can hit value even if he gives up a couple of goals. If you are buying in on this being a low -scoring game, then Vasilevskiy makes lots of sense, and could also be used in the captain spot.
