Wednesday’s two-game NHL slate is loaded with top-tier scorers. We should expect lots of tight games with some great matchups out there, but expect some of the top scorers to shine through still. DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We only have two games tonight, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find value. The Edmonton Oilers are going to be a popular play on this slate, but there are some other options that we need to consider. The Devils can provide us with some along with the Golden Knights.  Let’s dig right in and build a winning lineup.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Frederik Andersen vs New Jersey Devils

Stuart Skinner vs Vegas Golden Knights

Akira Schmid vs Carolina Hurricanes

Best Odds for a Win

Stuart Skinner vs Vegas Golden Knights

Frederik Andersen vs New Jersey Devils

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Frederik Andersen, G, Carolina Hurricanes

Assuming he gets the start, Frederik Andersen is going to be most people’s favorite option. The Devils can score goals, but they are ranked 14th in goals per game after the first round. Anderen is an elite goalie who was good in his one game so far, so if you’re going to pay up for a goalie, make it him.

Akira Schmid G, New Jersey Devils

On the flip side, Akira Schmid was elite in the first round and I expect him to be just as good. Carolina is missing a ton of elite goal-scorers and finished 12th in GF/G after the first round. The Islanders gave them some trouble in their previous matchup and I think the Devils could do the same. Schmid isn’t the favorite to win, but he could still provide value.

Stuart Skinner, G, Edmonton Oilers

I don’t love Stuart Skinner, but there aren’t a ton of options to choose from. The Oilers have an elite offense and they can easily come away with the win on home ice. Skinner’s price tag isn’t great, but if you’re chasing the win, he’s got the best odds.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Edmonton Oilers vs Laurent Brossoit (3.4)

Vegas Golden Knights vs Stuart Skinner (3.3)

Carolina Hurricanes vs New Jersey Devils(2.9)

New Jersey Devils vs Frederik Andersen (2.7)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Leon Draisaitl, W, Edmonton Oilers

At this point, you already know the drill with Leon Draisaitl. His price tag is still too cheap considering just how productive he is. The Oilers power play is also elite and Draisaitl is a big part of that. I’ll keep plugging him into my lineup until he’s no longer a value play.

Jack Hughes, C, New Jersey Devils

Even if the Devils have the lowest team total on the slate, I still think they have some upside. Jack Hughes didn’t tear up the first round, but he still managed to score three goals. Igor Shesterkin was great and there’s a good chance we see elite Frederik Andersen. At $7600 on DraftKings, I’ll gladly take my chances with him. He will need a point and five shots on goal to hit value.

Jonathan Marchessault, W, Vegas Golden Knights

Jonathan Marchessault is good at shooting the puck, but he hasn’t done that consistently yet in the playoffs. The Oilers may be a good offensive team, but their defense still isn’t where it was late in the season. Marchessault plays a healthy amount of minutes and also sees time on the power play, so he could finish with a point and five shots on goal, which is a great return at $5200.

Evan Bouchard, D, Edmonton Oilers

The only other Edmonton player not named McDavid or Draisaitl to finish with ten or more points in the first round was Evan Bouchard. It helps that he’s quarterbacking the best power play in recent history, but $5300 for him on this slate is just too cheap. You’ve seen him here before and that won’t change unless he falls off the face of the earth.
