DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Welcome round two of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs! The popular plays will likely be loading up with Maple Leafs and Stars, and that might be the correct play today, but I wouldn't discount the Panthers, who had no issues scoring against a Boston team that didn't give up goals during the regular season, and Toronto's defense while solid isn't on that level. Seattle will continue to be a hard team to take a lot of players on. They are going to try and win games 3-2, but you can find value from their team as their minutes are very evenly distributed so don't be afraid to fill in the blanks with them.

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers

Bobrovsky was very respectable in goal for the Panthers to end the series with Boston. This will be a challenge but, you're not paying top dollar for him, and he should face lots of shots, so I like the mix of upside, cost and low ownership.

Ilya Samsonov, G, Toronto Maple Leafs

I would expect Samsonvo to see plenty of shots in this game, as the Panthers are not afraid to shoot the puck in volume. If the Leafs are going to be successful in this series they will need strong performances from Samsonov. The Leafs are favourites in this game, so his price is reasonable when you also factor in that he could see 35 shots in this game.

Philipp Grubauer, G, Seattle Kraken

We saw Grubauer show up against the Avs, and his performance was a huge reason why the Kraken was able to shut down Colorado's offence and pull off the upset. Can he keep that magic going against a deeper Dallas team? Well at his price I am willing to find out.

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Auston Matthews C, Toronto Maple Leafs

We saw Matthews score in each of the last four games in the Tampa series, and on top of that, he is blocking shots and putting lots of shots on goal. He should be the highest-owned player today, but that wouldn't me from having him in my lineup today, as not many players can match his upside or floor.

Wyatt Johnson, C, Dallas Stars

If you're looking to find a cheaper center today, Johnson is a solid choice. He wasn't extremely productive in the Minnesota series, but he is playing 18 minutes a night on the second line and his price means he won't need to do a lot to get to value today.

Mitch Marner W, Toronto Maple Leafs

Matthews rightfully gets the attention, but Marner led all Maple Leafs players in points in the first round, and he also played an astonishing 23 minutes per game in that round and I wouldn't expect those minutes to decrease much The floor isn't really high, but the ceiling is definitely there. 

Brandon Montour, D, Florida Panthers

Montour was a beast against Boston. He had four multi-point games and three games where he hit either the shot or blocked shot bonus. I don't see his production slowing down in this series, so I wouldn't see any issues with paying a mid-range price for his production.
