Welcome to Tuesday’s 11-game NHL Slate. We have a massive slate with a ton of great options, but we can’t pay up for every superstar. We need to find value and target players in good matchups.

You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for Tuesday, February 13th, but before you build those NHL daily fantasy lineups, don’t forget to check out our NHL DFS projections, the NHL Value Finder, and the NHL DFS lineup generator. Let's look closer at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate.

NHL DFS Playbook: February 13th

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We have a massive slate with a ton of elite talent. Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon are all on the same slate, but there are some other big names that we need to consider. It’s important on a large slate to get good value, and sometimes, that isn’t paying up for the most expensive player. Let’s take a look at which players are worth targeting tonight.

Recommended DFS Starting Goalies

Top Options for Saves

Linus Ullmark vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Ukko Pekka Luukkonen vs. Los Angeles Kings

Charlie Lindgren vs. Colorado Avalanche

Best Odds for a Win

Thatcher Demko vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Stuart Skinner vs. Detroit Red Wings

Ilya Samsonov vs. St. Louis Blues

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Thatcher Demko, G, Vancouver Canucks

Thatcher Demko is by far the best goalie option on the slate. The Chicago Blackhawks play better at home, but they are still one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Casey DeSmith would also work if the Cancuks decide to give Demko a night off.

Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins

The Tampa Bay Lightning are just #NotGood on the road. Boston is a good hockey team and Linus Ullmark is a good goalie. This might feel like a tough spot for him, but Tampa is just unable to keep the puck out of their own net. It might feel expensive to chase a win with Ullmark, but there’s a good chance we get him at low ownership.

Ilya Sorokin, G, New York Islanders

I feel like Ilya Sorokin is in my playbooks a lot, but he just has so many good matchups to exploit. The Kraken are playing their second game in as many nights and the Islanders have been off since Thursday. There could be some rust, but this is a game that Sorokin and the Islanders can win.

Lukas Dostal, G, Anaheim Ducks

I can’t for the life of me trust Cayden Primeau and the Montreal Canadiens. Primeau is making his first start since January 18th, so I expect him to be a little rusty. Montreal doesn’t defend well and their offence isn’t elite. It’s been a difficult season for Lukas Dostal, but this is a great spot for him at an even better price tag.

Alex Lyon, G, Detroit Red Wings

Remember when the Oilers couldn’t lose a hockey game? Well, they’ve loss two in a row and have come back down to earth. They are still an elite hockey team, but they aren’t scoring five-six goals a game. They can do some damage, but I think the Red Wings keep this game close and Alex Lyon could surprise us all by picking up the win and hitting value.

Recommended DFS Skaters

Highest Expected Goal Totals

Ottawa Senators vs. Daniil Tarasov (4.2)

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Jordan Binnington (3.9)

Vancouver Canucks vs. Petr Mrazek (3.9)

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Auston Matthews, C, Toronto Maple Leafs

If I’m going to pay up for an elite forward, I need him to be a shooting machine, and no one does that better than Auston Matthews. He has points in nine games and continues to just see a ton of minutes. The Blues aren’t very good and they are even worse on the road. I trust Matthews tonight to hit value.

Josh Norris, C, Ottawa Senators

Josh Norris is skating on the top line, seeing time on the top power play unit and is facing a below-average Columbus team, but his price tag is only $4500 on DraftKings. I get that he only has one goal in the last ten games, but the upside here is just massive. Ottawa has the highest implied team total, so we could see a healthy amount of goals. Norris needs one point and a few shots on goal to hit value.

Jack Hughes, W, New Jersey Devils

DK has Jack Hughes on the wing, so we will take advantage of that. New Jersey is playing their second game in as many nights and their third game in four nights, but that doesn’t mean anything for Hughes. In fact, he only played 16 minutes yesterday and still managed to finish with two points and seven shots on goal. We know the skill he has, and I expect him to be on the ice a lot.

Filip Forsberg, W, Nashville Predators

On the other side, we can’t go wrong with Filip Forsberg. The man is just shooting the puck a ton and he isn’t slowing down tonight. He had eight shots on goal last game and added two points. As mentioned, the Devils are playing on short rest, and they may run out of gas before the second period is over. On top of it, they don’t have a single good goalie. You don’t have to stack Forsberg with anyone, but he can be a nice single-bullet option in all formats.

John Carlson, D, Washington Capitals

When did John Carlson become a shutdown defenseman? We know he can produce offensively, but he has now blocked three or more shots in four of the last five games, including six against the Panthers a week ago. The Capitals are going to have their hands full with Colorado’s top line, so this could be another game for Carlson where he can hit value without having to register a point.

Henri Jokiharju, D, Buffalo Sabres

We’re taking a chance with Henri Jokiharju tonight. Owen Powers is out of the lineup and Jokiharju is seeing an increased role. He’s killing penalties but also seeing some time on the second power play unit. We aren’t targeting him for his offence, but more for his blocked shots. He’s only hit the bonus once in the last five games, but he also hasn’t faced many teams that shoot the puck a ton. He’s a risky option in a GPP that could work out.
