DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Welcome back to the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs! We have three series today which have really lacked an element of predictability, but that is an ongoing trend for these Stanley Cup playoffs so far. The safest play today is likely to lean on the Vegas Golden Knights. Winnipeg is likely to be without Mark Scheifele, so building some lineups that Jack Eichel, Chandler Stephenson and Mark Stone can pay off. The other places I would look are Toronto, who could win their first playoff series in almost 20 years today, and the New York Rangers, who played much better in New Jersey than they did at home.

Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups

Connor Hellebuyck, G, Winnipeg Jets

Hellebuyck continues to struggle in this series, and if the Jets have any hope of staying alive they will need a much better performance from him today. Using him comes with risk, but he won't break the bank and he has the best shot at facing a lot of shots which gives him enough upside to be worth the risk.

Igor Shesterkin, G, New York Rangers

What a difference a couple of days make. After the Rangers were close to taking a 3-0 lead in the series they are now heading back to Newark with the series tied. With that said, Shesterkin has played well, and the home team is yet to win a game in this series, so don't be surprised if that trend continues today. I would be willing to take the discount here.

Andrei Vasilevskiy G, Tampa Bay Lightning

We continue to see Vasilevskiy be unimpressive in this series, but we know that he can steal a game, and he is priced in a way that makes him enticing, especially in an elimination game where his team will need him to play like the best goalie in the world.

Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups

Auston Matthews C, Toronto Maple Leafs

Matthews appears to have found his game, especially in the last two. He has five shots or more in both of those games, and he has had points in each game this series and multiple points in three of the four games. He has a great floor, and if you're paying up for a single player today, he would be my choice.

Chandler Stephenson C, Vegas Golden Knights

If you had to guess who leads Vegas in points in this series, I'm not sure how many guesses it would take you to get to Stephenson, but it is likely more than one. He has six points in three games in the series and his price tag hasn't really gotten all that high. I know he will be in most of the lineups I build today.

Chris Kreider W, New York Rangers

We saw Kreider be much less effective at home, but he still managed a point in each game. The Rangers will head back to the other side of the Hudson River for this game where Krieder was dominate in the first two games, and at his price I would be willing to see if he is able to reclaim any of that magic today.

Neal Pionk, D, Winnipeg Jets

It looks like Josh Morrissey will be out again today, but it opens up space for Pionk to be a great value again today. He has five points in the last two games, and he is taking shots and blocking shots too, so you may not find a better value today.
