NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, February 2nd
We have the final week of NHL action before we're in for the 4 Nations Face-Off. As I've mentioned before, teams should continue to operate normally outside of a top goalie getting an extra day of rest here or there.
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks on Sleeper Fantasy
- Jason Robertson Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
- Pavel Dorofeyev Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
- Clayton Keller Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars have a good matchup to pile up some shots tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Since the start of January, the Blue Jackets have allowed 67.75 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-worst in the league. Robertson comes in with 34 shots on goal over his last 10 games while seeing time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit.
Pavel Dorofeyev has been super consistent for the Vegas Golden Knights this season and that should only continue tonight versus the New York Rangers. Dorofeyev has at least 2 shots on goal in eight of his last 10 games, putting him in play to hit this every night. The Rangers have allowed 60.81 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the start of January, which is the 10th worst in the league.
The Utah Hockey Club might not be a scoring a ton of goals right now but they're pushing the pace on offense. They come in with 60.46 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is in the top half of the league since the start of January. This brings us to Clayton Keller, who has 15 shots on goal over his last five games. He brings a solid level of consistency and has a good matchup vs the St. Louis Blues.
Sunday Salary Cap DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Kevin Lankinen - VAN
While the Vancouver Canucks are making trades, they have a game to play tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, who are on the second night of a back-to-back.
It's a solid matchup since the Red Wings have only scored 2.13 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th lowest in the league since the start of January. Lankinen has been solid with two goals or fewer allowed in four of his last five games, which he should be able to reproduce tonight.
Play Of The Day: Jack Eichel - VGK
Jack Eichel and the Vegas Golden Knights have a 3.5 implied goal total tonight against the New York Rangers, which could be the game of the night.
The Rangers have been struggling on defense throughout the season and in January, they allowed 2.41 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 14th worst in the league. They've also allowed four goals or more in four of their last six games, making this a great spot for Eichel and Vegas.
Eichel comes in with 11 points, 29 shots on goal, and 8 blocked shots in his last 10 games. He's doing it all over the ice and a great option to build your lineups around.
Value Play Of The Day: Matias Maccelli - UTA
The Utah Hockey Club has been dealing with some injuries and it has caused some shifts in their lineup and Matias Maccelli has benefited from that.
He's now on the second forward line and the second power-play unit, while still being only $3.3K on DraftKings. He has 5 points and 19 shots on goal over his last 10 games and while that's not headline news, it's great point-per-dollar production.
Stack Of The Day: VGK PP1 (Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl)
As noted above, Vegas has a 3.5 implied goal total and should be a popular option tonight against the New York Rangers.
Eichel is expensive at $8K but overall, this lineup is relatively affordable and you can stack three or four of them in one lineup. I'm targeting the top power-play unit of Eichel, Stone, and Hertl. You could throw defender Shea Theodore into the stack if you have the salary available.
Over the last 10 games, Eichel and Stone both have 11 points with 29 and 16 shots respectively. At the same time, Hertl has been red-hot with 14 points, 34 shots on goal, and 12 blocked shots. It's a great three-man stack and has plenty of upside with this matchup.
