Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! We have a seven-game slate that is loaded with superstars. We can’t afford to play them all, so tough choices will need to be made. We have a handful of good goalies and no shortage of value plays. Let’s get right to business and see which players we need to keep an eye on.

NHL Pick 'Em At Sleeper Today

Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.

Sleeper NHL Picks, Saturday, February 1st:

Anytime you can get Lucas Raymond at 2.5 shots on goal, you have to smash the over. The Red Wings aren’t any elite hockey team, but they can generate scoring chances and Raymond is a big reason for that. He’s gone over in the last four games and I expect him to keep that streak alive.

The Penguins traded Marcus Pettersson yesterday and for some reason, they think Matt Grzelcyk on the top power play is a good thing. I would have Kris Letang or Erik Karlsson on the top unit, but hey, what do I know? If Grzelcyk is going to keep seeing opportunities like this, he will find the score sheet. Let’s hope tonight is one of those nights.

Since Drew Doughty has returned to the lineup, the Los Angeles Kings have failed to win a game or score a goal. Are those things connected? Probably not, but the Kings are struggling and their offence is more dried up than J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson’s friendship. Anze Kopitar doesn’t have a point in his last five games and he has a really tough matchup on paper. I like the Under for him.

Saturday Salary Cap DFS Picks

Goalie Of The Day: Frederik Andersen - CAR

Frederik Andersen has played just seven games all season, but he’s 6-1-0 with a 1.84 GAA and a .924 SV%. It’s a small sample size, but considering how poor the Kings have been of late, he’s an easy choice in cash games. Just be prepared for him to be chalk-y.

Honorable Mention: Andrei Vasilevskiy - TBL

I just can’t take the New York Islanders seriously. Their offence doesn’t excite me and their blue line isn’t great without Noah Dobson. Andrei Vasilevskiy is expected to start this one and he’s going to have a good game. All he has to do is backstop his team to a victory and he will hit value.

Player Of The Day: Connor McDavid - EDM

Connor McDavid was unhappy that the Oilers have a 5PM local start because the Maple Leafs are in town, saying his team always has to accommodate Toronto when they go visit but not the other way around. I don’t know about you, but an annoyed McDavid is a good thing. We know he’s the best player in the world and he’s going to get so many good chances. He’s been struggling to hit value the last five games, but you know he can explode at any moment.

Honorable Mention: Sidney Crosby- PIT

As bad as the Pittsburgh Penguins have been this season, Sidney Crosby continues to remind everyone that he is elite and nothing can slow him down. The Nashville Predators are on a three-game losing streak and are playing their third game in four nights. I like Crosby’s chances of getting on the scoresheet.

Value Play Of The Day: Tony DeAngelo - NYI

I never thought we’d be talking about Tony DeAngelo in NHL DFS again, but here we are. After starting the season in the KHL, he signed a deal with the Islanders and is playing some significant minutes. He played just over 28 minutes against Philadelphia, which is wild because he isn’t good defensively. If New York is going to give him that much ice time, he’s going to find ways to hit value. You could do a lot worse than him at his price point.

Honorable Mention: Jackson Blake - CAR

I’m really starting to fall in love with Jackson Blake and the value he can bring to our NHL DFS lineup. He continues to skate on the top line and has four points in the last four games. His price tag has shot up to $3800, but that’s still a bargain considering how much upside he has. He can be used in all formats as a single-bullet.

Stack Of The Day - TBL PP1 (Nikita Kucherov - Brayden Point - Jake Guentzel)

If you’re not stacking the top power play unit against the Islanders, you are doing it wrong. They are horrendous on the penalty kill and I can’t imagine them being any good tonight. You can pick any combination of the top unit, but the three names above are my favorite.
