NHL DFS Pick'em Picks on Sleeper Fantasy

We all know Alex Ovechkin is chasing history and while the goals might be variable, the volume of shots is super consistent. He comes in with 44 shots on goal over his last 10 games, hitting at least three shots in eight straight games. As a team, the Capitals are generating the 10th most Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the break.

Noah Hanifin and the Vegas Golden Knights have a big 4.1 implied goal total tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins and it should be an offensive onslaught for them. Today's slate will feature plenty of options from Vegas and Hanifin picking up a point is a great spot to start. He's the defender on the first power-play unit and comes in with nine points in his last 10 games.

Jordan Kyrou and the St. Louis Blues are a solid team to target tonight with a 3.1 implied goal total. The matchup versus the Anaheim Ducks is solid, they sit in the bottom 10 of the league in Total Shot Attempts Allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the break.

Friday Salary Cap DFS Picks

Goalie Of The Day: Joel Hofer - STL

Tonight is the first game of a back-to-back for the St. Louis Blues and I think it's going to be Joel Hofer in net tonight but be sure to check he's the starter. This has more to do with the Blues playing the Kings tomorrow, which means Jordan Binnington should be facing them.

As for Hofer, the matchup against the Anaheim Ducks is a good one, even though they have been scoring a good bit as of late. Since the 4 Nations break, the Ducks have scored 3.03 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh highest in the league. However, they are overperforming as their Expected Goals Scored in the same situations is only at 2.20.

The Ducks sit with 50.11 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-lowest in the league since the break. In short, they are scoring a lot on very little shot volume, which isn't sustainable. The Blues are only allowing 1.86 Goals in the same situations since the break, which is the ninth-best in the league. The Blues are solid on defense and the Ducks are clearly overproducing on offense, I'll roll with Hofer.

Play Of The Day: Jack Eichel - VGK

Today is looking like a pretty straightforward slate where the Vegas Golden Knights and the Washington Capitals are set to be the chalk of the slate. We can mix in some players from the Utah Hockey Club or the St. Louis Blues, and that should give us plenty of solid options.

I'm sticking with Jack Eichel as the top play of the slate. The first few games after the 4 Nations break were a bit slow for Eichel but he has 5 points and 11 shots on goal over his last three games. He should be able to continue that tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have allowed a league-worst 4.35 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the break.

Value Play Of The Day: Ivan Barbashev - VGK

Ivan Barbashev has been up-and-down at times this season but he's up right now and we want to strike while the iron is hot. In the five games since the 4 Nations break, he has six points and eight shots on goal. He's on the third forward line and the second power-play unit, but at sub $4K on DraftKings, he's worth the spot with our NHL DFS picks tonight.

Stack Of The Day: VGK PP1 (Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl)

Yes, it's a lot of Vegas today. You can certainly look to the Washinton Capitals top line and top power-play unit, I will certainly have some shares of that, but I like Vegas as the top option.

The Penguins' defense has been absolutely abysmal in recent weeks with 4.35 Goals Allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst int he league by a decent margin. On the flip side, the Vegas offense has been cookin' with 3.09 Goals Scored in the same situations. You can look to add in Noah Hanifin if you have the salary available.
