NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/03

Utah Mammoth vs Anaheim Ducks Prediction

It’s been a rough few games for the Utah Mammoth. They have lost four in a row, and their goaltending has been bad. They give up fewer than 28 shots per game, but when your goalie can’t make a save, and your offence isn’t clicking, it’s hard to string together wins. Anaheim can fill the back of the net, but they also allow a lot of goals. If this game becomes a barnburner, we gotta back the team with the elite offence. The Ducks are the better overall team, so we’ll take them to cover the Money Line.

Goalie of the Day: Yaroslav Askarov - SJ

There isn't a single goalie on this slate that I love. Everyone is either poor or just overpriced. The Washington Capitals are an excellent hockey team, but Yaroslav Askarov has been on a hot streak. He’s 5-0 at home in his last five games and gives his team a real shot at winning. It might not be pretty, but if he keeps the goals against under three and hits the save bonus on DraftKings, for $7100, I’ll gladly take my chances.

Honourable Mention: Logan Thompson - WSH

If you disagree with me and want to chase the win in cash games, Logan Thompson is an option. I don’t love his price, and his matchup on paper isn’t great. He’s posted some elite numbers this year, so maybe he stands on his head and gets the win. Still, it’s going to be tough for him to hit value.

Player of the Day: Jason Robertson - DAL

Jason Robertson has been thriving over the last few weeks, and tonight, he faces Jacob Markstrom and the Devils. Markstrom has a .874 SV% on the season, so Robertson will be eager to get plenty of pucks on goal. He’s pricey, but has been worth it most nights. I’ll pay up for him, hoping for multiple points.

Honourable Mention: Kyle Connor - WPG

The Montreal Canadiens are playing their second game in as many nights and are ranked 31st in goals against. They struggle to get saves for their goalies, and their defensive game has collapsed. Opponents frequently outshoot the Habs, and tonight should be no different. Kyle Connor is a shooter, and he’ll get many quality chances. He’s expected to be a popular play tonight.

Value Play of the Day: Juraj Slafkovsky - MTL

Let’s not pretend that the loss of Connor Hellebuyck hasn’t impacted the Jets. Losing an elite goalie often does. Juraj Slafkovsky is heating up, but his price isn’t. He has four points in the last three games and played a massive 22 minutes against Ottawa. Martin St. Louis has had issues giving some players ice time, but he seems to trust Slafkovsky in all situations fully. The Slovak has returned to the top line with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki, so there should be plenty of chances for him to get on the scoresheet.
