 🏒NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 5/22

🔥 Vegas Golden Knights vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction

If you have followed the playoffs up until now then you were at least mildly surprised to see Vegas take game one on the road. I've learned to respect this John Tortorella squad but the Avalanche are coming with a reckoning tonight, Cale Makar or not. 

In the opening game I will say Carter Hart was the difference as he saved 2.07 goals above expected. Its great when a goalie steals a game but its usually unsustainable seeing as the Avalanche at even strength topped Vegas in expected goals 3.29 to 1.96. If those numbers continue into tonight I expect the Avs capitalize on their chances in a big way. After all, Colorado is 5-1 this postseason at home and is outscoring the opposition 20-14 over those games. I also expect more matchups featuring the Brock Nelson line on Jack Eichel which should slow Vegas down with their top line dealing with the grinders of Colorado. I don't like taking Puck Lines in the playoffs though and the Money Line is unfavorably chalky so give me Colorado to win this game in regulation on the 60 minute Money Line. 

On top of the Avalanche winning narrative let's go ahead and tack on a prop. The Nazem Kadri, Ross Colton and Nicolas Roy line has been sneaky productive for the home side and they present great value across points props and shots on goal. Kadri was one of the better players in the loss in game one generating the 2nd most expected goals on the roster. He has a good line with him and centers the top powerplay unit, I like him to post one plus point tonight as Colorado gets back on track.
