🏒 NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/6
Admittedly, today’s slate isn’t quite as jam-packed with just four games, but it’s safe to say that there is no lack of significance. It also all begins with an NHL Network clash, so having our NHL best bets today is still a must. That first game is Lightning vs. Sabres as well, so it could end up deciding the Atlantic Division!
See, we weren’t exaggerating when we said that it’s as important a day as ever, as if you’d ever want to pass up on some NHL expert picks. Speaking of epic matchups, we also get the second iteration of Connor Bedard vs. Macklin Celebrini this season! Those two young stars are always reason enough for some NHL predictions.
The 20 and 19-year-old went head-to-head about two months ago, which was actually a smooth 6-3 win for the Chicago Blackhawks. Of course, it’s still the San Jose Sharks that are actually vying for a Wild Card spot. So, should they be part of our NHL picks for today? After all, there are only four games in total. Let’s fully dive in and see what made the cut for our NHL best bets today.
🔥 Lightning vs. Sabres Prediction: Buffalo Money Line (+108 at Novig)
With such a massive game on deck to begin the entire slate and featured on NHL Network, there was no doubt that Lightning vs. Sabres would be the game that we start with. This potential Atlantic Division-decider was as epic as it gets, less than a month ago, with an epic 8-7 showdown in Buffalo.
Those who picked the Sabres then will like the first of our NHL best bets today, as we’ve got Buffalo bouncing back. They just had a rather convincing loss at the hands of the Washington Capitals, but they have otherwise been a juggernaut since the Olympic break. That’s why we also saw them take down Tampa 6-2 just a week prior to that 8-7 win.
Something about Tage Thompson and company gets the best of Andrei Vasilevskiy, and they get to be at home tonight. So, let’s start our NHL best bets today with the Sabres money line (+108 at Novig).
🔥 Blackhawks vs. Sharks Prediction: Connor Bedard Anytime Goal Scorer (+175 at Novig)
If you’d like another approach for that huge matchup in northern New York, we also like the over 6.5 goals. Even still, we’ll head to that Bedard vs. Celebrini matchup to add to our NHL best bets today. In fact, it continues our mention of goals expected, as we’ve got the new face of Chicago finding the back of the net.
We considered checking out a shots on goal prop, but it’s allowing skaters to find the back of the net, where San Jose struggles even more. Truthfully, we still expect the Sharks to take down the Blackhawks, but that doesn’t mean that Bedard can’t have a repeat performance; he scored a goal when these teams first met not long ago.
He led his boys to a win on Saturday with two assists, but he still just secured a 30-goal season recently as well. As he tries to match Celebrini, we’ve got Connor Bedard as an anytime goal scorer (+175 at Novig).

🏒 Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
🏅 Skater of the Day: Macklin Celebrini
You saw us target Connor Bedard with an anytime goal scorer pick, but we still have Celebrini with the bigger game overall. As a 19-year-old, he obviously doesn’t have a ton of games against Chicago, but he’s still leading off our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions thanks to his two points when these teams met two months ago.
Chicago’s a great matchup for any skater that likes to shoot and can find the back of the net - the two things that Celebrini does best. He’s also on the team that is far more motivated, as San Jose still wants to snatch one of those coveted Wild Card spots in the Western Conference. No surprise, but Celebrini has to be part of our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions.
🏅 Goalie of the Day: Juuse Saros
This one is a bit of a combo in terms of a value goalie + a goalie of the day. If you want to stay nice and square as we did with Celebrini above, Connor Hellebuyck on home ice against the Seattle Kraken is the play. However, Saros going against the Kings saves us some salary with our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions.
Los Angeles hasn’t been a team known for lighting up the scoreboard for a handful of seasons now, especially without Kevin Fiala. Even including his 56 games played, the Kings have still scored the fourth-fewest goals per game this season. Saros isn’t having his best year personally, but for the price, he’s added to our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions.
🏅 Value Pick of the Day: Teuvo Teravainen
When we’ve got Bedard vs. Celebrini, there was always going to be extra attention on it, and our value pick continues that. Of course, not with one of those young stars specifically, but instead, a different Blackhawk. We’ve got Teravainen as part of our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions against the Sharks' defense that we’ve harped on.
It feels like this guy has gone under the radar since leaving the Carolina Hurricanes, but he’s still a strong skater. With a salary of just $2,900 at DraftKings paired with our projection of potentially double-digit fantasy points, that’s a steal for this small slate. Again, San Jose has allowed the third-most goals per game since the Olympic break.
Adding Teravainen to a lineup frees up serious salary space, which is why he’s the value play from our NHL DFS cheat sheet predictions.
