🏒NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/22

🔥 Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction

The Edmonton Oilers lead the series 1-0 and are aiming to take a commanding lead tonight. They are the stronger team on paper, but in Game 1, it was Connor Ingram’s performance that kept them in the game. He did his part by preventing goals until the Oilers scored twice in the third period to secure the win. While Edmonton boasts a powerful offense, they need to make slight improvements on defense.

Anaheim put together a solid performance; however, they struggled to maintain their defense in the third period. They successfully avoided penalties, which will be crucial tonight, and generated scoring chances at even strength. Lukas Dostal conceded four goals again, a recurring issue over the past month, but he didn’t play poorly—this loss wasn't solely his fault.

Many believe this game will be high-scoring, but based on what we saw in Game 1, we might expect a low-scoring matchup tonight. We lean towards the under and hope both goalies come ready to perform.

🏅Goalie of the Day: Dan Vladar - PHI

Are the Pittsburgh Penguins no longer a strong team? They lost both games at home and scored only two goals! Someone should check on Josh Wagner and ensure he’s in a good mental state. While it’s hard to fully trust the Flyers, one thing is certain: their success heavily relies on Dan Vladar. His regular-season stats have been impressive, and his playoff performance has been exceptional. While we can expect some regression, it won’t be a complete downfall. Philadelphia has excelled all season at suppressing shots and has the home advantage. We might even see some bonus hockey, which would further boost Vladar’s value.

🏅Honourable Mention: Connor Ingram - EDM

I like Connor Ingram tonight, but I'm not a fan of his $8,300 price tag. He performed very well in Game 1, but playoff shots often tend to be on the lower end. If he allows more than two goals— even with a win— it might not be enough to justify his value. If you believe, as I do, that this will be a low-scoring game, then you can confidently go with Ingram.

🏅Skater of the Day: Jason Robertson - DAL

At this stage of the season, when building your lineups, it's important to focus on VALUE. While there’s nothing wrong with selecting Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl, if they don’t meet their value, it can be challenging to win money.

Jason Robertson and the Dallas Stars are performing well on the road. Robertson has scored in both of his recent games and is averaging over five shots per game. His floor should remain high tonight, especially if the game script unfolds as expected, with Dallas possibly trailing. This would lead to more opportunities for the young shooter. He is currently the best top-tier player in terms of price and potential outcome.

🏅Honourable Mention: Brock Faber - MIN

Not enough people are discussing Brock Faber and his impressive performance to start the playoffs. He scored two goals in the last game, but his DraftKings price has dropped to $5,100. It's puzzling, but we'll take the discount. While the goals are great, what really stands out is his shot volume: he has recorded 9 shots in just 2 games, which is outstanding for any defenseman.

On the other hand, Quinn Hughes is logging a lot of ice time, but he hasn't produced offensively yet. So, why pay a premium for Hughes when you can get Faber at a lower price with similar expected production?

🏅Value Play of the Day: Porter Martone - PHI

By now, it shouldn't be surprising to see Porter Martone featured in this section. The rookie continues to find ways to score goals, and his price tag remains below $6K. While he is more expensive than Faber, his value is exceptional. The consistency he has shown is something we haven’t seen with the Flyers in a very long time. As long as he keeps producing and delivering good value, he will remain in this section.
