🔥 Utah Mammoth vs Vegas Golden Knights Prediction
This is the second day of playoff games, so we aren’t going all-out. Let’s dip our toes in the water and gauge the temperature. One game that has caught my attention is Utah vs. Vegas. Since John Tortorella took over, the team is undefeated in regulation. They are playing a much better brand of hockey, especially in the defensive zone. Utah is a good hockey team, but they are young and unproven at this stage. Vegas knows what it takes to win and how to navigate the emotions. We should expect them to come out with some pace. We’ve seen teams not hesitate to pull their goalies early, so we’ll take a stab at the Puck Line.
We’ll also take a shot at a goalie prop. We won’t know who is starting before lineups lock, but if it’s based on play, Carter Hart is the likely candidate. He went undefeated in April and allowed three or more goals in just one of those starts. His save total is sitting at 21.5, which is fair, but if the game script goes as expected, Utah will be trailing and needing to push for goals, which means more shots. Hart may not need to stop 30, but I like his chances of hitting the over.
- Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+160 on DraftKings)
- Carter Hart O/21.5 Saves (-110 on DraftKings)
🏒Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
🏅Goalie of the Day: Scott Wedgewood - COL
We need to solidify our goaltending position at this point in the season, which is why we’re turning to Scott Wedgewood for stability. He’ll get the first opportunity against the Kings, who were among the lowest-scoring teams during the regular season. Wedgewood needs to perform well if he wants to continue getting starts, so I fully expect him to play at an above-average level.
🏅Honourable Mention: Jeremy Swayman - BOS
If you're seeking an advantage, Jeremy Swayman could be the answer. He performed well during the regular season, but his road stats were disappointing. While Boston is a strong playoff team, Buffalo will have opportunities and aim to take many shots on goal. Swayman could still provide value even if he doesn't secure a win.
🏅Skater of the Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL
There’s no need to be clever when it comes to paying a premium for an elite superstar. Nathan MacKinnon led the league in goals and was a dominant force at home. The Kings have the depth in their lineup to attempt to contain him, but since this game is in Colorado, expect Coach Bednar to keep his best player away from Anze Kopitar whenever possible. Look for MacKinnon to create numerous high-danger scoring chances.
🏅Honourable Mention: Nikita Kucherov - TBL
If you’re not choosing MacKinnon, your next best option is likely Nikita Kucherov. The Lightning forward had an impressive season with 130 points, although only 55 of those were scored at home. The Canadiens have been improving lately, but their defence remains inconsistent. With Noah Dobson out, others will need to step up to try to contain one of the best players in the world. Kucherov will need to score multiple points to deliver value, but if anyone can achieve that, it’s him.
🏅Value Play of the Day: Alex Carrier - MTL
We won’t know for sure until the lineups are announced, but all signs point to Alex Carrier returning to the Canadiens' lineup. He is expected to take on a top-four role and focus on shutting down an elite Tampa Bay offence. Martin St. Louis may rely heavily on the veteran defenseman in Game 1. At a salary of just $2,500, Carrier only needs to perform moderately well to deliver value.
