NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 5/10

 

 

 

Hurricanes vs. Capitals Prediction: Saturday, May 10th

We are all knotted at one game a piece as this Metropolitan Division clash heads into Game 3 and we're now in Carolina! I wrote a lot about how good the Hurricanes were at home this season but I will break it down once more today. In the regular season they only lost in regulation 9 times out of 41 games and they scored 3.78 goals per game while allowing just 2.46 goals per game, it was complete dominance. 

I do like the Canes to win tonight but its juiced up so high that its not a worthy wager for tonight at -250. I was want to avoid the puck line as playoff games are always close it seems and go to overtime quite often. The bet I do like tonight is on their goal scoring prowess in front of the home crowd. Credit to Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson as he's the reason this series is 1-1 but its hard to be perfect every single game. Frederick Andersen on the Carolina side has been known to let a couple in game to game as well so I will take the over and hope it hits for the first time in the series. 

Oilers vs. Golden Knights Prediction: Saturday, May 10th


Its officially put up or shut up time for the Golden Knights after they dropped both games at home and now find themselves down 2-0 in the series. Losing this game is the nail in the coffin as coming back from 3-0 in damn near impossible and I believe that they know that very well. This Vegas team is very good and they're not going to go quietly and I like them to win tonight. 

Stuart Skinner is starting in net again for the Golden Knights and that's a perfect for Vegas seeing as Skinner has been one of the worst goaltenders in these Stanley Cup playoffs with a expected goals saved mark of -4.7! He's always in over his head so the Golden Knights will score goals it'll be more about there defense containing the Oilers offense which they have in the past and know the formula even if it hasn't worked yet in this series. Golden Knights on the Money Line with their backs against the wall!

 

 

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet

Goalie Of The Day: Frederik Andersen - CAR

I've gone with Logan Thompson on my DFS plays for the last couple of games and its paid off big time but now I'm going to flip to the other side of things. Andersen and the Canes are stone walls at home and the Capitals have already had their issues this series in producing high danger chances. I don't think we can expect a high ceiling here but he's not going to allow 3+ either like the other goalies on the slate might tonight. 

Player Of The Day: Jack Eichel - VGK

Eichel got put on a poster by Connor McDavid at the end of Game 2 and being the competitor that he is I think its fuel for some revenge and motivation! The Golden Knights have had no issue scoring in this series and much of that is thanks to Eichel who has 9 points heading into tonight's game. His line has been Vegas's best in terms of production and goals expected metrics and they'll be on the ice a ton tonight in what will be a high scoring game, no brainer for me to play him. 

Value Play Of The Day: Logan Stankoven - CAR

Have I mentioned that I really like the Hurricanes tonight in this article? They are outplaying the Capitals in a big way through the start of this series and the value after the top line is too hard to pass up for me. The Stankoven line has been Carolina's best in terms of goals expected percentage and Stankoven already has 3 goals this post season. He's going to get plenty of chances tonight as Tom Wilson will likely be hounding the top line with Sebastian Aho today so plug this young buck into your lineups.
