Wild vs. Avalanche Predictions

We got an entire series worth of goals in Game 1 in this Western Conference semi-finals matchup as 15 goals hit the stat sheet and many around the hockey world got a show! I'm of course skeptical if that torrid pace continues but I know one thing its going to be entertaining, top notch hockey no matter the outcome.

I have a feeling Jesper Wallstedt is going to get blizted all series, maybe not as bad as Game 1 but the Avalanche have taken 27.2 even strength shots per game and their Corsi ratings remain one of the best in the postseason to this point. Case and point is they generate a mammoth volume of shots every night and Wallstedt will see high volume. That feeds into my wager on him tonight of going over on saves. The number is high at 28.5 but in the opening game he faced 42 shots and the Wild as good as they are have been known to allow high volumes of shots. In fact they've allowed an average of 32.7 shots per game this postseason! Give me the over and expect a sharper game from the young goalie as well.

The next wager is in the spirit of the all the chances the Wild allow and its backing a point prop on the forgotten name of the Colorado top line. We all love MacKinnon and Martin Necas and for good reason but Artturi Lehkonen skates right beside them every night and has 6 points this postseason through 5 games. He also has time on the 2nd powerplay unit in which he's the usually shooter for that group. A prop like this at plus money is too hard to ignore so let's root for Lehkonen to record 1+ point tonight.

Pick: Jesper Wallstedt (MIN) Over 28.5 Saves (-120 on DraftKings)

Pick: Artturi Lehkonen (COL) 1+ Point (+110 on DraftKings)
