NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/30

I’ll give you one Money Line, one Total and one Player Prop to target for this slate. We’ve been cooking so far in the first round, so let’s keep this strong start going.

Canadiens vs Capitals Prediction: Wednesday, April 30th

The Canadiens go into Washington tonight trying to force a return flight to Montreal. They’ve been down 3-1 in a series before and have been able to come back, more precisely, 2009-10 against the Capitals. I’m not saying we will see a repeat of that, but if we did, I wouldn’t be shocked.

The Canadiens lost the first two games of this series, but they played very well. I don’t expect them to come out and just forget how to play defence. They need to play their game and capitalize on their chances. The total being at 6.5 just seems way too high, so we’ll take the Under and hope a couple of empty-net goals don’t hurt us.

  • Under 6.5 (-135 on DraftKings)

Panthers vs Lightning Prediction: Wednesday, April 30th

The Capitals are down 3-1 and are trying to send this series back to Sunrise. I’d love to see this battle continue, but the way things have progressed, it could be over tonight.

The Lightning will be without Brandon Hagel, who suffered an injury last game. Aaron Ekblad will miss the next two games for the Panthers due to a suspension. Overall, the Panthers have just been the better team, and we are getting them at a slight discount. I wouldn’t go crazy betting the Money Line, but I do have a lean on it.

  • Panthers Money Line (-102 on DraftKings)

Blues vs. Jets Prediction: Wednesday, April 30th

The Winnipeg Jets need to start playing some better hockey, or they won’t be chasing the Stanley Cup much longer. Everything starts with Connor Hellebuyck, who has been MISERABLE to this point. We know he can play better, but time is running out.

That being said, Cam Fowler is tied for 5th overall in NHL scoring in the playoffs. He refuses to stop racking up points and is a big reason why the Blues have made this series a best-of-three. Despite all this success, we can still get Fowler at plus money to record a point, so we'll take it and move on.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie Of The Day: Connor Hellebuyck - WPG

I know this feels like a massive risk, but if you don’t risk it for the biscuit, you’ll never win. Hellebuyck is too good to be this horrible. He will be the first to tell you that he needs to step up his game. He’s not facing a ton of shots, so there’s no reason for him to be giving up so many goals. He’s back at home and has been good all year in front of the Jets faithful, so let’s believe in him.

Player Of The Day: Jake Guentzel - TBL

If the Tampa Bay Lightning want to keep their season alive, they are going to need Jake Guentzel to continue racking up points. He has five in four games and has played over 23 minutes in the last three games. With Hagel out of the lineup, I expect his ice time to be elevated, which gives him more chances to hit value.

Value Play Of The Day: Alex Carrier - MTL

Alex Carrier took a crushing hit from Tom Wilson and was unable to finish Game 4, but he did travel with the team and is listed as questionable. If he does suit up, we play him. He sees a healthy amount of minutes and has blocked the most shots of any Canadiens defenceman. His $3900 price tag is also very appealing. Just confirm before puck drop that he is playing.
