NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/27

 

Golden Knights & Mammoth Prediction 

I will be very transparent I did not see the series going this way for Vegas as they face what feels like a must win game on the road in Utah. Its not been without trying though as most of the games have looked good in the underlying data they just aren't punching home the chances. A good example of this was in Game 3, a 4-2 win for Utah but Vegas dominated 5 on 5 play with 2.47 expected goals compared to just 1.6 for Utah. With that said the Mammoth deserve credit for countering Vegas' strengths so far I just think things regress to the mean overall. 

In 3 games the Golden Knights have given up 8 goals at even strength while the data of expected goals against tells us it should have only been 5.39. This means the Utah offense is punching up a bit and also the goaltending hasn't been good enough from Carter Hart. I believe we will see better soon from a goalie that has been amazing under John Tortorella thus far. Give me the Golden Knights on the Money Line to even things up tonight in what is becoming one of the more intriguing opening round series.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Carter Hart - VGK

I am on Vegas to win tonight so I must be on Hart at least in some capacity! I like Karel Vejmelka and Dan Vladar as well but I think Vegas comes out swinging tonight and there's a potential for 25+ save night allowing just a goal or two for Hart. His GAA is 3.1 and its one of the worst in the playoffs but things are due for a turnaround tonight, I truly believe that. 

Player of The Day: Jack Eichel - VGK

Despite losing the last pair of games the Vegas star has been rather productive with 3 points in those defeats. He is the most expensive player on the slate but for good reason as the star power in unmatched outside of Sidney Crosby in the early game but that's not the greatest matchup. Eichel and the Golden Knights need a win and their star will step up for them tonight. 

Value Play of The Day: Egor Chinakhov - PIT

Last call on the Penguins tonight in all likelihood as they've gotten clowned by the Flyers this postseason. I do like the spot for Chinakov though as he's back on his line with Evgeni Malkin and Tommy Novak which produced some big goals for him. The Penguins I hope fight like hell with their season on the line but regardless at 4.7k as a goal scoring threat he can be a play in lineups today.
