NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/23

 

Avalanche & Kings Prediction 

In a series that many predicted to end in 4 or 5 games I think we are right on track as scheduled. The Avalanche have dominated the series despite what the scoreboard says with an expected goal total of 5.77 even strength goals through a pair of games and haven't let in a goal either 5 on 5. This may very well be the game where the series blows open for Colorado as the Kings Corsi metrics are crumbling and they have just 1.5 expected even strength goals per game. 

The goaltending of Los Angeles is keeping them in games but that levy in going to break soon and I think it will tonight. Give me the Avalanche in regulation to win tonight on the 60-min Money Line and take a chokehold on the series.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Scott Wedgewood - COL

Outside of Dan Vladar and maybe Frederik Andersen I think Wedgewood has been the most impressive goaltender in these playoffs so far. He has only given up a pair of powerplay goals to the Kings in a pair of starts and his goals saved above expected in 5.39! The Avalanche are expected to win this game and the Kings have posted at least 25+ shots in each game so far. The floor is very safe here and its my goalie pick of the day. 

Player of The Day: David Pastrnak - BOS

Say whatever you want about Pasta's slow regular season, it seems like he's been saving it for the playoffs! In just a pair of games he has picked up 5 points to go along with 4 shots on goal. His line has matchup up well against the top Buffalo units and the Bruins are at home tonight with the last change for matchups. He's by far the most expensive winger on the slate but he's red hot and impossible to ignore. 

Value Play of The Day: Drake Batherson - OTT

I love the way the Hurricanes are playing right now but I think Freddie Andersen is due for some hiccups tonight. He is a solid goalie but hardly one to write home about as his stats have shown over the years. Give me some exposure to a goal scoring threat in Batherson who scored 30+ goals in the regular season but still has a reasonable price at just 5k on DK.
