NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/14

 

Canadiens & Flyers Prediction 

Its hard to believe that both of these teams are playoff bound and that one of them is competing for an Atlantic Division hierachy! That is the narrative here as there are many games with nothing at stake you must bet on the ones that matter. The Flyers played last night and locked in their spot, they can't move up or down in the standings and will likely rest players including star goalie Dan Vladar. This puts the Habs in the drivers seat from the rip as they're the better overall team and could face AHL opposition. Montreal would also like home ice in the first round and they can do that with a win and Tampa Bay loss tomorrow. I think this one is probably slow out of the gate but Montreal will have more urgency to win but of course follow the lineup news right up to the minute as things can change.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Jakub Dobes - MTL

There is a ton of uncertainty on the slate tonight so let's stick with what we know or at least think we do. The Habs are trying to win this game and Dobes has been the best goalie in hockey over the last 10 games in goals saved above expected. He will play a Flyers team that is dead last in offense over the last 10 games at even strength and they'll be resting starters as well. Seems like a no brainer here to me at the goalie spot.  

Player of The Day: David Pastrnak - BOS

I would think that the Bruins want to avoid the Hurricanes in the first round so its in their best interest to win tonight and stay in the Atlantic Division bracket. That puts Pastrnak on full blast tonight against a Devils team that hasn't played great defense of laste allowing 2.5 even strength goals on average for the past 10. Pasta is also overdue for a big game and I think he gets one to gain some momentum into the playoffs. 

Value Play of The Day: Mikael Granlund - ANA

Very good spot for the Ducks tonight as they'll play a Wild team that doesn't care about this game and also has let the defense slip over the last 10 outings. Minnesota now allows the 8th most DFS points per game to centers on the season and Granlund will have a great matchup anchoring the 2nd line for the Ducks. He's also super cheap at 4.4k and makes the lineups for me easier to build this evening.
