Tampa Bay Lightning vs Buffalo Sabres Prediction

The Buffalo Sabres have been on an impressive run for over two months, while the Tampa Bay Lightning are known as one of the best road teams in the league. It’s hard to predict who will win this game, but one thing is certain: we’re likely to see plenty of goals. In their two previous matchups, the Over hit in both games, and both teams have been consistently scoring. The Lightning are as healthy as they’ve been all season, and the Sabres are performing at an elite level. Expect the goal lights to be flashing early and often in this matchup.

Goalie of the Day: John Gibson - DET

When John Gibson starts a hockey game for the Detroit Red Wings on the road, he must be in your lineup. I understand the Devils are a different team with Jack Hughes back in the lineup, but they will be playing at the tail end of a back-to-back schedule. Gibson has an impressive record of 12 wins and 5 losses, with a goals-against average (GAA) of 1.92 and a save percentage (SV%) of .936 on the road. While it's hard to explain why he's performing this way, we don't need to question it; we just need to trust the numbers.

Honourable Mention: Ville Husso - ANA

I would prefer to see Lukas Dostal start this game, but he has given up 10 goals in his last two starts, so he might sit this one out. Ville Husso doesn't have impressive statistics, but in his last two starts—both at home—he has allowed only two goals. Although the Blues have been on a hot streak offensively lately, it’s important to remember that they are still struggling overall. Anaheim is capable of scoring at home, and with John Carlson expected to make his debut, they will have some added support on the blue line. I’m willing to take a chance on Husso in a GPP.

Player of the Day: Jack Eichel - VGK

I have no problem with you choosing Connor McDavid, but his away game performance isn't as dominant. If we're spending a significant amount, we need to prioritize maximum value. Jack Eichel excels at both ends of the ice and has a favorable matchup against an Oilers team that is allowing a lot of goals. Tristan Jarry is likely to start, and he has been underwhelming since his trade from Pittsburgh. While I have no issue with McDavid, I personally prefer Eichel if you have to choose just one.

Honourable Mention: Cutter Gautheir - ANA

Cutter Gautheir is on fire right now, and I have a feeling people might overlook him. He has scored six goals in the last four games and is averaging well over five shots per game. Despite this recent offensive surge, his price has only increased by $800 since March 1st. If DraftKings offers him at under $8,000 with a favorable matchup against (possibly) Jordan Binnington, I’m all in.

Value Play of the Day: Corey Perry - TBL

In his first game after being traded from the Kings, Corey Perry made an immediate impact with his former team. The veteran scored a goal and recorded four shots on goal. Although this was at the tail end of a back-to-back, Perry has the confidence of coach John Cooper and understands his role on the team. His price is reasonable, and he doesn't need to do much to achieve value. I like him as a budget option if you need to save on salary.
