NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/21

 

Lightning vs. Oilers Prediction 

Ah shoot, here we go again! The Oilers are back in action tonight and you know what that means, another peek at a game total here on the best bets. The Oilers just can't keep the puck out of their net as evidenced by their 2.7 goals against per game at even strength over the past 10 games which is the 4th highest mark in the NHL. Beyond that in the 12 games since the Olympic break they've gone over the standard total of 6.5 goals in 8 games and in a matchup against the Lightning tonight I don't see trends changing. The Lightning boast the highest goals per game at even strength in the entire NHL over their last 10 contests at 2.8 and they're going to shred up this Oilers team. Luckily for Edmonton though, Tampa Bay hasn't been playing defense either allowing 2.6 per game at 5 on 5 during the same time period as mentioned above. This game is going to be a snipers delight and I am here and ready to lay my money down on the over.

Goalie of The Day - John Gibson - DET

In this smaller 5 game slate there are limited options on the board and some games have shootout potential to make one wary but this matchup for the Red Wings is a good one. The Bruins are a poor road team that scores just over 3 a game away from home and John Gibson has been a rock for these Red Wings of late. Gibson in his 8 starts since the Olympic break has a 2.21 GAA and .923 SV% so let's lock in the hot hand for our lineups. 

Player of The Day: Nikita Kucherov - TB

The Lightning may not be stacking wins but their star winger is sure getting his stats lately! Kucherov is on a Mammoth run right now in the month of March with 19 points over 9 games and he will not be slowing down against this Oilers defense. Edmonton allows the 8th most DFS points to right wingers on the season and nobody is better than Kucherov, this is a lock and load play tonight. 

Value Play of The Day: Dylan Holloway - STL

Getting back on the horse with Holloway as my value play today as he did us right earlier in the week! His price has gone up a bit but at 6.4k I am still invested in the value especially knowing that the Canucks allow the most DFS points per game in the entire NHL to left wingers and also right wingers for that matter. Blues are playing good hockey out of pride and I respect that so let's give them some love.
