NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 2/26
Â
Kraken vs. Blues PredictionÂ
Somehow and someway the Kraken are in the playoff race as things stand with several weeks to go in the regular season. They aren't flashy but they seem to be predictable overall and in betting that's a good thing as they lose to good teams but beat the bad ones. They also play great defense as before the break they gabe up just 2.8 goals per game and tonight they'll play the Blues who score just under 3 goals per game but their expected goals over the last 10 was 2.6. Seattle has also been a steady road team this season at 13-12-4 while the Blues are all but out of the running this season and figure to sell off assets sooner rather than later. Backup goaltender Joel Hofer will man the cage for the Blues tonight as well with Binnington getting rest after the Olympics so let's ride the Kraken as surprising underdogs tonight to win on the Money Line.Â
Pick: Kraken Money Line (+120 on DraftKings)
Red Wings vs. Senators PredictionÂ
Things can change after a 3 week layoff but we can only work off of the data we have and what we have is a showing of a pair of great defensive teams in the final 10 games before the break facing off tonight. The Senators allowed 2.5 goals per game during that time frame and what's more impressive is that their expected goals against was also 2.5 meaning they are legit any way you slice it at defending. On the other end the Red Wings gave up just 2.6 goals per game and had a litany of low scoring affairs before the break going under the total in 4 of their final 5 games. I think you mix those numbers with the fact that many members of the Red Wings played in Italy and may be weary and you get a low scoring grind it out game from these teams tonight so I will be betting the under.Â
Pick: Red Wings & Senators Under 6 Goals (-110 on BetMGM)
Other Best Bets/Props
- Oilers & Kings Over 6 Goals (-120 on BetMGM)
- Steven Stamkos (NSH) Over 2.5 Shots (-105 on DraftKings)
- Sam Reinhart (FLA) Over 2.5 Shots (-155 on DraftKings)

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks
Goalie of The Day - Ilya Sorokin - NYI
By most metrics Sorokin was the best goalie in the NHL when things broke for the Olympics with his goals saved above expected per 60 minutes sitting at 0.798 which puts him in a category of his own. Over his last 10 games he has given up 2.4 goals per game and a .958 SV% against unblocked shots. The challenge will be there against a Canadiens team that can definitely score in bunches but I think he remains the play with the best upside on the slate with the potential of a slate winner at the goalie position.Â
Player of The Day: Macklin Celebrini - SJ
With most of the Olympic players coming back they could be worse for wear but not when you're 19 like the kid Celebrini. The Sharks and their star are in a good spot to resume their season tonight as the Flames have been a below average team all season and they allow the 2nd most DFS points to centers on the season. It will be a high priced day at center and you can't fade all of them and the kid will be my selection tonight no doubt.Â
Value Play of The Day: Alex Laferriere - LAK
When you play the Oilers as an offense you have the potential to blast off on the score sheet as there's no defense or goaltending to contend with and the game flow is top speed. That means most of the Kings are a value tonight but none more than Laferriere as he now centers a line with Artemi Panarin and Adrian Kempe! That kind of exposure at 4.8k is unreal in tonight's slate and the Oilers also allow the 3rd most points to centers on the season so let's load up some Kings on the cheap tonight!
