NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/6

 

Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs Prediction 

Its an Atlantic Division rivals matchup tonight as the Habs visit the Leafs and a game that should be a fun watch. Neither team has played consistent defense all season long and more so over the past 10 games. The Canadiens have given up 4.1 goals per game during that span and the expected goals is not far off the mark at 3.9! Toronto to their credit has been better but their expected goals against mark of 3.49 over the past 10 games is hardly a steady mark. To me this creates a strong environment for these teams to come in and score goals with the Maples Leafs averaging 3.48 goals per game, the 3rd most in the NHL and the Habs are right behind them at 3.31. Expect sparks to fly in this one tonight and take the over with me. 

Pick: Canadiens & Maple Leafs Over 6.5 Goals (-115 on DraftKings)

Blues vs. Senators Prediction 

My next wager on this Saturday will be a cross conference one as the Blues visit the Canadian capital to take on the Senators. Its time for our ceremony of fading the Blues on the books here again as they come into the game losers in 4 of the last 6 games in which they scored just 12 goals total. The offense just isn't keeping up and against a team like Ottawa who over the past 10 games has an expected goals allowed mark of 2.84 the trend should continue for this anemic group of forwards. On the flip side the Senators are scoring a bit more now at 3.2 goals expected per game and Linus Ullmark will start in net. Ullmark has good numbers on home ice with a 2.58 GAA and .907 SV% so that gives the team a leg up on Joel Hofer on the other side of the net. Senators should win this one without issue so I will be taking their Money Line wager.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - Brandon Bussi - CAR

This play really applies to all of the goalies for Carolina because you never know who will start but they are all good options because of the system they play in. The Hurricanes have played some of the best defense in hockey over the past few years and this one is no different. Over the past 10 games the Canes are allowing 2.64 expected goals per game, the best in the NHL. The Predators offense is lacking bite as well with just 27 goals over their last 10 games. Expect the Canes to dominate here and the goalie for them to succeed. 

Player of The Day: Auston Matthews - TOR

The Maple Leafs are having a tough season but at least Matthews is back and rocking in the lineup again! After 2 goals in the last 3 games Matthews is primed for a big one today against the Habs who allow 3.54 goals per game the 2nd most in the NHL. Matthews has played 38 career games against Montreal and in those matchups he has collected a total of 29 goals and 18 assists! The man loves playing Montreal so let's plug him into all of our lineups with confidence. 

Value Play of The Day: Jared McCann - SEA

One of the low key matchups for this giant slate is the Kraken offense against the Red Wings' defense later tonight. Over the past 10 games the Red Wings have given up 38 total goals and the Kraken while not sharp on offense could take advantage. That's where McCann comes in with his big minutes and powerplay upside. All the Kraken players are a value in my eyes but this play is a top one considering the opportunity he has on the ice on a nightly basis.
