NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/05

Buffalo Sabres vs Winnipeg Jets Prediction

I know it’s been a tough patch for the Winnipeg Jets lately, but let’s not pretend the Buffalo Sabres are a good hockey team. They’ve only managed two road wins, have terrible goaltending, and allow a ton of shots. Winnipeg is playing at home, and although they lack depth, they still have players who can find the net. Expect the Jets to come out strong and build some early momentum. We’ll back them to cover the Money Line.

Goalie of the Day: Logan Thompson - WSH

Logan Thompson on the road is money! He has a 1.89 GAA and a .933 SV% away from D.C. He faces a tough matchup against the Ducks, but they’ve been conceding a lot of goals lately and have a deep, solid defensive group. We get a slight discount on DraftKings, so we’ll take it and not look back.

Honourable Mention: Jake Oettinger - DAL

Jake Oettinger hasn’t been as successful at home as on the road, but his matchup on paper is top-tier. The Sharks don’t score many goals, especially on the road, where their numbers decline further. They also lack depth, so Dallas should be able to find the back of the net. Oettinger needs the win to reach value, so keep that in mind when setting your lineup.

Player of the Day: Jason Robertson - DAL

Jason Robertson has been on a mission this season and shows no signs of slowing down. He’s been scoring goals at an elite level, and he has a juicy matchup against the Sharks, who give up lots of scoring chances. Robertson could rack up multiple points tonight, so I’d gladly take a piece of him.

Honourable Mention: Dylan Guenther - UTA

When Dylan Guenther hits the road, he becomes a different player. Of his 21 points this season, 15 have come away from home. Utah is in Vancouver tonight, so this is a prime opportunity for Guenther to make an impact. We get him at $6300, which is an incredible discount. If you're looking for a single player to target in all formats, he is the one to remember.

Value Play of the Day: Matt Roy - WSH

John Carlson is out of the lineup for this game, so others will need to step up. Matt Roy had a strong game against San Jose, recording three assists, two shots on goal, and four blocked shots. While the offence is nice, it’s the blocked shots we should focus on. Anaheim has a dangerous offence and likes to shoot the puck, so this is a good opportunity for Roy to add value without needing to register a point. He’s a solid value option in all formats.
