NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/30

 

Islanders vs. Blackhawks Prediction 

Two teams heading in opposite directions meet up today as the Islanders and Blackhawks square off. Islanders remain on of the season's most surprising teams in 2nd place of the Metropolitan Division and the Blackhawks have been on a slide since the start of December and have lost 8 of their last 10 games. New York is getting by with top tier defense allowing 2.6 goals per game over their past 10 which has helped band-aid their lack of offense. I think they can score today though against a Chicago team that has given up 40 goals during their 10 game skid. Islanders also have a advantage in net with David Rittich so give me New York on the Money Line tonight even if its a bit chalky. Its a real solid play on a short slate strapped for options.

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of The Day - David Rittich - NYI

Rittich is the man in charge right now with Sorokin on the shelf injured and so far its been a hell of a run. Through 6 starts in December he is holding down a 1.83 GAA and .941 SV% but is 3-2 due to lack of goal support. I don't think the Blackhawks will represent a tough challenge to Rittich either so the great numbers should continue and the Islanders may need to score just 2 goals to win so line up the backup man to start and play well in your lineups. 

Player of The Day: Sebastian Aho - CAR

Playing against the Penguins of late means you are in for a big day on offense! Aho and the Hurricanes find themselves in that place today as the Pens have given up the most goals per game over the past 10 games. Aho can be up and down but his ceiling is top notch for a guy that has 35 points on the season. I will have many Carolina players in lineups tonight and Aho will be the centerpiece. 

Value Play of The Day: Matthew Knies - TOR

The Devils have been up and down this season but they are allowing the 11 most DFS points to wingers this season! That puts Knies on my radar tonight with William Nylander on the injury report at day to day. If he is out Knies immediately becomes a premier option for the Leafs offense and John Tavares most trusted linemate. He has just 10 goals on the season but he plays good minutes and his price has dropped to 5.2k for today so let's plug him in for this value play.
