NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/22

Seattle Kraken vs Anaheim Ducks Prediction

Our boy Josh Wagner has already chosen the Ducks' 60-minute money line, but I will take it a step further and bet on them to cover the Puck Line. Anaheim struggles to keep the puck out of their net, but the Kraken rank among the worst teams offensively, with a penalty kill rate of just 68.8%. Even without Leo Carlsson, there’s enough firepower in the lineup to find the back of the net. The Kraken recently broke a five-game losing streak, but that was against the Sharks. I’m definitely going with all the Quack Quack tonight!

Today's NHL DFS Cheat Sheet & Stacks

Goalie of the Day: Andrei Vasilevskiy - TBL

Tonight's selection of goalies is quite poor. We have below-average goaltenders facing off against below-average teams, which makes for a messy situation. If you're looking to play it safe, Andrei Vasilevskiy is your best choice. The Russian netminder will be up against the Blues, who have shown improvement recently but still pose little threat in terms of scoring. We can expect a low-scoring game, but Vasilevskiy should secure the win.

Honourable Mention: Thatcher Demko - VAN

The Vancouver Canucks have traded Quinn Hughes and are now on a four-game winning streak. Is this a Christmas miracle? While this winning streak will likely come to an end eventually, it may not happen tonight. Both teams lack elite offenses, suggesting that this game will be a low-scoring affair. Thatcher Demko has had some solid performances and is priced at $7,600 on DraftKings. Although his upside may be limited, he’s a player worth considering if you're feeling adventurous.

Player of the Day: Brayden Point - TBL

Brayden Point has had a challenging season, but his price of $5,800 on DraftKings against Jordan Binnington offers great value. While Nikita Kucherov is always a solid option, Point’s ability to play both five-on-five and on the power play with Kucherov provides us with direct exposure at a $3,000 discount. Point has recorded points in five of his last six games, making him a reliable choice against a struggling Blues defense and goalie.

Honourable Mention: Mikael Granlund - ANA

The season of giving continues in daily fantasy sports, with Mikael Granlund centering the top line and recording five points in his last three games. Since Leo Carlsson will not play tonight, Granlund will be expected to take on a larger role. Although his ice time has been inconsistent, he continues to produce even when logging fewer minutes. At a price of $3,900, I believe the incredible upside he offers makes him a valuable pick.

Value Play of the Day: Zeev Buium - VAN

There’s no doubt that Zeev Buium is a great value play. Although he has only recorded two points since being traded from Minnesota, and his ice time hasn't yet reached optimal levels, he is receiving quality ice time and has the opportunity to quarterback the top power play unit. We would like to see him produce more, but given his affordable price tag, an assist along with a couple of shots on goal would be more than enough to provide value.
