Seattle Kraken vs San Jose Sharks Prediction

If you’re a Seattle Kraken fan, I feel for you. This team is struggling and shows no signs of wanting to improve. They've lost four in a row and have only one win in their last 11 games. They can't generate scoring chances, which is why they average just 2.45 goals per game. I know the San Jose Sharks are far from perfect, but even without Will Smith, they’ve been able to find the back of the net with ease over the last few games. I don’t understand why markets have this game being close. We’ll take a shot here and go with the Sharks to cover the puck line.

Goalie of the Day: Pyotr Kochetkov - CAR

It’s never ideal to target a goalie playing at the end of a back-to-back, but we’ll make an exception here. The Hurricanes are coming off a tough 4-3 SO loss to the Panthers and now have a game against the Lighting, who are just decimated by injuries. Brandon Hagel has been placed on IR and Nikita Kucherov is questionable to play. Pyotr Kochetkov has a 4-0 record, a 1.22 GAA, and a .950 SV% on the road. Those are video game numbers. Carolina is top-five in shots on the road, so there’s lots of positivity here. Kochetkov is a sneaky play that could really pay off.

 

Honourable Mention: Jacob Fowler - MTL

It’s been a rough last two games for Jacob Fowler, but he gets to face the Penguins tonight, a team he beat in his season debut. His 3.32 GAA and .884 SV% don’t tell the whole story. His xGSA is 1.3, so he’s just not getting enough support from his team. The Canadiens have struggled at home, but with Mike Matheson’s return, that should give a much-needed boost. I know $8200 for him is a lot, but he can get the job done and secure the win if the Habs could just play better in front of him.

 

Player of the Day: Morgan Geekie - BOS

There’s nothing wrong with paying up for David Pastrnak, but his numbers at home haven’t been stellar. Morgan Geekie has 24 goals this season, 15 of which have come on home ice. He’s got a very good matchup against a Canucks team playing their second game in as many nights. Kevin Lankinen will likely get the start, and he’s been struggle all season, sporting a 3.49 GAA and a .878 SV%. I’ll have a lot of exposure to Geekie and you should too.

 

Honourable Mention: Zach Werenski - CBJ

Having Zach Werenski in your lineup is like having an extra elite forward. He has scored 4 goals in the last two games and 8 points in the last four. His shot volume is high, and he can also block shots. The Anaheim Ducks gave up EIGHT goals to the Stars last night, and while I’m not expecting them to give up that many in this one, I am expecting Werenski to have more than enough chances to find the back of the net.

 

Value Play of the Day: MacKenzie Weegar - CGY

Is MacKenzie Weegar back to being elite? His point totals have not been there, but over the last three games, his finished with 5+ shots and 3+ blocks in the same game TWICE! He’s eclipsed 14 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of the last four games, so his floor is extremely high. His $5400 price tag might seem like a lot, but he’s basically Zach Werenski without the points. I’ll have him in my lineups as a single bullet in all formats.
