NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 12/2

 

Canucks vs. Avalanche Prediction 

It's a matchup tonight of the league's best offense over the past 10 games and the league's worst defense over that same time span! The Avalanche come into this tilt with 4.4 goals per game over the past 10 contests while also holding the highest expected goals mark at 44.03. That means the real numbers and expected stats are in line and that's a scary thing for Vancouver tonight. The Canucks defense is allowing 4.2 goals per game and nearly 36 expected goals during this 10-game stretch and have lost 7 of those last 10. Colorado is 8-4 against the spread on home ice this season so I like them to cover the Puck Line tonight. 

Pick: Avalanche Puck Line -1.5 (-125 on BetMGM)

Bruins vs. Red Wings Prediction 

An original 6 game is on tap for tonight as the Bruins visit the Red Wings and I could see this one having some goals! In the last 10 games Detroit has maintained and expected goals mark of 38.7 in total while allowing 30.61 expected goals as well. That puts their average game near 7 goals right now but the total tonight is just 5.5. On the Bruins side the over looks good too as they generate nearly 3 goals per game and allow an expected 4 goals per game during this 10-game run. The goalies don't do much to sway the expectation of scoring either as John Gibson with his 3.59 GAA will go against Jeremy Swayman who's splits are worse on the road with a 2.87 GAA.

Goalie of The Day - Jesper Wallstedt - MIN

One of the best defenses in the NHL resides in Minnesota right now and its thanks for the most part to Wallstedt who has burst onto the scene! His 9 games this season the newcomer is 7-0-2 with a 1.93 GAA and ridiculous .938 SV%. He will have his work cut out for him against Connor McDavid and company tonight, but the volume should be massive in shots and he's the hottest goalie in hockey right now so lock him into your lineups tonight. 

Player of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL

In a matchup against the worst defense in hockey who else could be the play of the day but MacKinnon? He is dealing with an illness and his questionable tonight but if he plays its a lock in my lineups. The man has 44 points and 20 goals this season while the Canucks allow the 8th most DFS points per game to centers this season. If he plays its an auto start for me, no questions asked. 

Value Play of The Day: Drake Batherson - OTT

This Canadian rivalry matchup is a sneaky spot in DFS tonight, especially considering the Habs aren't playing much defense these days. In the last 10 games Montreal has allowed 41 goals and the turn around doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon. Wingers have fared very well against the Habs as well and Batherson has 21 points already on the season. At 5.4k its an easy money saver in your lineups.
